Very little has changed. The dump off passes to Thomas and Sproles and getting blown up quickly.

Dont give me the offense is top 5 either.
It is in yards but in points scored its been poor in at least 3 out the past 5 years.

Im not saying its over but another bad year and it should be

I also dont see any changes till the issues with ownership is sorted.

Loomis runs on far too long a leash
IDT scheme has crap to do with it...I don't care what the scheme is if you have men in your backfield you're going to lose yards or at the very least not gain any

Jeff 'King of 8-8' Fisher

The man is a master of keeping ambition to a minimum. That team should be far better than it is,especially with that defense.

Hsving said that as bad of some of Loomis contracts are giving Tavin Austin 4 years 42million with 30 million guaranteed is pure madness

The Tavon Austin contract is ludicrous, he's getting 10mil more than we gave Colston.

I think Fisher is farther out from a SuperBowl appearance and sub.500 season than Sean Payton. Just saying, not being critical but just looked it up. LA should definitely be looking at Fisher this year. But I totally get your drift.

Jeff Fisher
1999 SuperBowl APPEARANCE/LOSS
2008 last playoff APPEARANCE
2008 last winning season with Tennessee

Sean Payton
2009 SuperBowl APPEARANCE/WIN!!!!
2013 last playoff APPEARANCE
2013 last winning season with Saints

I dont think anyone is saying he is. Im certainly not and no matter what criticism i make of him or Loomis i respect what they have done.

But the Superbowl was a 6 years back now and there hasnt been a good team on the field dince 2011.

Re: Is Sean Paytons Job safe if we miss the playoffs?

The 2013 team wasn't good?

I will say the offense is becoming more concerning over time, I attribute most of this due to the lack of off-season focus on the O-line. In the years that our offense was considered unmatched we had a offensive line that was pro-bowl worthy. We have not built/had a good o-line since 2013. People have aged and we have failed to address it with any new additions through the draft or free agency. Ireland is the best thing to happen to this team in years, I think the last few drafts have yielded favorable results for the defense. The attention needs to be turned to the O-line now, I believe Payton knows they made a mistake waiting to address it.

Long story short, Payton's season, this team's season, will depend on the offensive line and it's ability to keep Brees out of danger. For once the defense might be respectable.

I think alot of cracks were papered ober in 13. A fair few wins were very slim and some of the defeats bad, with some really bad playcalling late (pats) got rin over by the Jets and Rams. Obviosly 11-5 is good but i think the team was already on a diwnward spiral

Sure, we're pretty spoiled, but it's Payton and Brees that spoiled us. You can change coaches if you want, but there's always a chance you get WORSE instead of better. Then what? It takes time, and when big gambles don't pay off, it takes a while to dig back out of that hole. We're closer to getting better than getting worse. Trust me.
And a lot of teams who don't make it fire their coaches. When you have a Super Bowl win on your resume, you get a few mulligans. But those mulligans are limited. I'm not trying to predict catastrophe. But as the question posed was is his job safe if we miss the playoffs, I think the pressure tightens significantly if that does happen.

Sure you could get worse. But that's the risk you have to take sometimes.
