The Evans signing is a very good one. He has experience with the team and will be even more motivated to get his old spot back. Unger, Strief and Evans can anchor the line we'll be in for a lot of offense. I see the defense being a lot better than 45 touchdowns!

Oh goodie I was not crazy and a QB is needed still. With QBs in such high demand I will be surprised if he clears. If he does I would be alarmed.

Hope Evans can stay healthy and give us one more good year. Kind of scary that we're filling holes with players better teams don't want...but am glad Evans will probably end his career as a Saint. He has been a great one!
The Grayson release is yet another poor talent decision by the Saints. Too many draft picks wasted on players who don't make the team, too much dead money, too many consistently poor free agent decisions have left the Saints woefully short of true "difference makers". |

There is logic in drafting a QB every year to hopefully get the one that can actually make it every six or seven years.

Re: Saints release QB Garrett Grayson, third-round pick in 2015.
Question...
Does anyone think we're gonna find Brees' replacement by NOT drafting a QB prospect? Grayson was worth a shot, but since about 1 out of every 50 QB's drafted don't become elite, should we stop drafting QB's? BTW, I'd guess that 1 out of every 7,000 QB's not drafted become elite. I'm of the opinion you draft a QB at a minimum of every other year until you get that elite guy, unless you already have a young elite QB to man the spot for the next 5 or 6 years. |

Re: Saints release QB Garrett Grayson, third-round pick in 2015.
I hated the idea of drafting him where they did. To me, it makes more sense to either go all in and draft one in the first round, if you are trying to prepare for the future, or just keep taking QB's late in the draft every year or two and see if you can find a diamond in the rough.
Taking one in the third is like saying you want a QB, but you don't, but you do. Sure, you could hit a home run, but you could just as easily do so with a 6th round pick. The vast majority of the top QB's are first rounders or high second round. It just isn't a position to screw around with in the middle rounds. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
