Let me clairfy, I'm giving the D across the board a pass. We are starting our #5 and #6 cb's. We lost our starting DE and DT. I can not blame Allen for the play of backups in every position.

Started early, before game 2 of preseason. By end of the first regular season game we lost both starting corners, starting LB Kihaha, starting Tight End Manu, Jenkins out, Keenan Lewis may never recover from his injury so we cut him, Swann gone, Delvin Breaux GONE.... Byrd did come back to play.

That's a lot of starters and rotating backups GONE for the season or forever.

Banged up defense gets a pass, albeit a very marginal pass none the less. Thought some of the replacement bartender types made some plays....As much as I like Harper, think it may be time to hang it up, he looked old, slow and whiffed several times, not to mention out of place. If we still stink after we get healthier, believe then we may have to look at doing something.

Oh for hells sake. Stop with the Payton bashing. He's a good coach and even if we were to fire him, who the hell is gonna get our offensive production? No one.

I love this place. But good hell I'm about to abort after almost a decade and a half. It's just a downer.

What is latter day Williams?

You mean the best defenses this team has seen in decades?

Greg Williams was the best thing that happen to the Saints, since he left we have been an average franchise at best. The success from 2009-2011 was in large part due to GW not Payton.

Injuries make it harder, we all get it. But those are still supposed to be professionals out there. So to answer your question, the expectation is that you put up SOME kind of resistance.

They managed to keep the Giants out of the endzone last week. They bent a ton, but didn't break, and we all applauded them for it. Then they come home for a prime time game against a team they have owned, and they do absolutely nothing to stop that team.

The D-line can't make any excuses. They are missing a player (Rankins) who no one even knows yet how good he is. There was supposed to be an improved pass rush, and it just hasn't happened.

No question the injuries hurt bad. But you can't be non competitive.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Durning Gregg Williams tenure as Defensive Coordinator the Saints Defense in yards was ranked:

2009 - 25th
2010 - 4th
2011 - 24th

During that same time the Offense was ranked:

2009 - 1st
2010 - 6th
2011 - 1st

2009 the Saints won the Super Bowl
2010 the Saints were knocked out of the playoffs by Seattle 41-36
2011 the Saints were knocked out of the playoffs by San Fran 32-36

Gregg Williams was loud and unconventional but it was the offense that carried those teams. In 2010 and 2011 it was the defense that failed and got the Saints knocked out of the playoffs.

For the past 3 years, I've never seen us play as a team, if one side excels, the other fails, it starts with Payton.
D & ST did indeed SUCK. However, to say the O was only ok is laughable

474 total yards
377 passing
115 rushing
32 1st downs
32:34 TOP
and 32 points

The stupid muffed punt/keystone cops play and the pick 6 are what doomed us. Without those two play's, we win.

We lost the first two games by a combined 4 points.
I have not lost hope and believe this can be turned around.
