You are complaining about something that no longer exists.

It is already at 9 million, and we have no idea if that will increase or not. It is an issue, clearly it is an issue. We are 7-9 3 straight years, well if we win next week 8-8 this year, but nonetheless you get the idea. Don't tell me it doesn't matter, don't tell me it didn't have an effect. That's nonsense. Whether it is here next season does not change that it is 30%, near 1/3 of our cap this year was dead money. Of course that has longer lasting effects beyond just one season. The bigger question is how will Mick handle the fact that we are no longer in cap space hell. Are him and SP going to go back on the wild spending sprees. Are we going to be smart with players like Nick Fairley and recognize we want to sign him, but remain cautious. You do not win or build by signing big name free agents. Go conservative, find contributors in free agency, but build through successful drafts, and you can do that by stock piling picks.

I don't get into the money thing but I do believe and agree about building through the draft. Ozzie Newsom (Ravens)is one of the best at it. I admire how Belichick and the Pats do also. One coach that doesn't get credited for putting teams together is Andy Reid, building through the draft IS a must. We lack depth at most positions and need to focus there in the mid to late rounds to strnghten the Saints as a whole. Development of these players reflect on the coaches, without good coaches a kilil Mack type looks and plays bad.

should be 30 million or so without making any moves at all going into FA. That can blow up 50 million with a few key causalities. we all know Byrd a top of that list

now back to this SP pooh rumor.

If SP goes then a ring here in NO is out of the question for drew before he sends his cleats to the hall of fame.

If SP goes to the rams then i would call denver and see if Drew is a QB for them. send him some where to win a ring. so maybe houston. actually houston makes more sense. if either can swing it.

I would rather see drew and SP skipping away into the retirement sunset hand in hand wearing black and gold.

It's that complicated defense he runs! 10 and 11 look very similar!

See that's the problem. Manning's won 13+ games with four different coaches. Is it really coaching that matters more than the QB. I guess it does for the players, but does it for Drew? He's played well in probowls with first stringers without Payton's playcalling.
