Youll always get that from other teams fans

Im a Liverpool fan and had to live for years with other fans sick chants abouts the Hillsbourgh disater(96 fans dead in a crush) and the police, press and government lies about it being th fault of drunk fans crushing their own. Even with that all being made public and the fault being now known to be the police failures we still get the chants and rubbish.

I've always been in two minds about Hillsborough Lee. Whilst you're absolutely right that the disaster was covered up by corrupt police/government, in my opinion both sides share blame. How morals go straight out the window because fans wanted to see a football game that much they pushed and pushed until people died is beyond me, of course it's completely out of line that people chant about it and how it was covered up.

Not sure how much you know on what actually happened

In them days the stands behind the goal were not fully opened but penned.
So you went into seperate pens. see pic

Because the game was going to be started soon the Police decided to open up the overflow gate to all fans and just herded them into a couple of pens behind the goals. This led to only a couple of pens being fully occupied and others bing terribly overcrowed. Even when the police infront of the pens and on the pitch saw this instead of opening the pens and allowing the fans onto the pitch and delaying the game they left them in there and those at the front had nowhere to go ad those at the back knew nothing of the crush at the front

You had fans trying the climb over into the other pens and other being dragged out. Liverpool nearly scored after a few minutes which led to more swaying of fans trying to see again unaware of the issue(fans were always herded like cattle in th 70/80s) The same incident nearly ahppend a few years earlier but because of no deaths was ignored. It should also be noted that the ground had no safety certificate and should not have been hosting sporting events

44 Ambulances arrived on site and the Police stopped them entering the stadium. The Police also declared everyone dead within 15 mins which turned out to be another lie as some police admitted fans had shown signs of life 45 minutes after. How many people could have been rvived and saved.

The policed refused the request to start the game late
They refused entrance for 44 ambulances
Lied in statements after the game/rewrote there notebooks and statements
Then told the press that the Liverpool fans attacked them and stopped them attending the injured, picked pockets of those dying
Blamed the fans for being drunk
Even in last years new case they still pushed these claims and tried to have the case dropped

The whole thing could have been avoided had the game been delayed or they opened the gates. Even had the crush happened had they just allowed the ambulances entry the number of dfeaths would have been reduced but the worst part was all the lies afterwards. They took hold over here and the families have had to fight tooth and nail for the truth and yet even now the story is so well ingrained it has become the truth for many.

Of yeah and the police CCTV tapes went missing post match and the only people with access South Yorkshire Police

Im not one for pushing blame on the Police in all cases its a difficult job but they lost control of the situation and made mistake after mistake andspent 20 years blaming the victims

No doubt that crows trouble for 20 years in Europe had set the disaster in motion, but mistakes were made and nobody on the Police has ever paid the price of 96 deaths.

Sorry but this is obviously very close for me and i remember my Mum and Dad at the old public phone box all day trying to get through to the emergency lines and family back home as my uncle was in the crowd(luckily he was uninjured)

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm not saying the police are without blame. I know rough details such as Ambulances denied access and the police declaring people dead etc. and I'm glad your uncle escaped unhurt, I wouldn't wish that disaster on anyone.

This is the bit that gets me;

Te'o has drawn zero interest in free agency, with New Orleans his only reported visit. Recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon, Te'o won't be gifted a starting job if he lands with the Saints. He'll have to earn it. Mar 20 - 1:08 PM

I get trying to make the D better, but go after guys that a) aren't always injured and b) are actually good players.

Speaks volumes that no teams except us called him.

Has he signed,it was a while back i heard he was coming in.
Honestly i have no issue with this,as a back up to AJ he allows Robertson and Anthony to kick outside and he wont cost much

There's nothing wrong with taking a look. We sucked hard last year. I'd be digging under every rock.

Former Chargers inside linebacker Manti Te'o is close to a deal with the New Orleans Saints, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano.

A contract could be signed by Tuesday, the source said.

The Saints have already signed one inside linebacker this year, giving A.J. Klein a three-year, $15 million deal. But they are apparently seeking more depth and upgrades throughout their defense, which coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis labeled as a top priority this offseason.

The Saints' embattled defense showed signs of improvement last year in Dennis Allen's first full year as defensive coordinator. But they still finished 27th in yards allowed and 31st in points allowed. Last year's starting middle linebacker, Craig Robertson, played well, but he could be moved outside.

The Chargers traded up in the 2013 draft to select Te'o in the second round out of Notre Dame. He has made 34 starts in 38 games, recording 221 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1 1/2 sacks.

In 2016, Te'o suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week 3 against the Colts and was done for the year.

Te'o, who turned 26 in January, has missed a combined 26 games in his four previous NFL seasons

He wont be on much and likely an amount that can be absorbed if cut. He is worth a look. He was decent 2 years back and still only 26
