The money for Fleener has already been paid. The Saints are accountable for it whether Fleener is cut or if he sits on the bench. As I've pointed out in other threads, the 2017 dead cap hit for Fleener is $5 million more than his cap hit.

Fleener will be the "starting" TE for the Saints in 2017.
