Agreed on all points J.

Chandler Jones played well out in Arizona, Richard Seymour played extremely well in Oakland. Underhill wrote a piece (can't locate the article at the moment) breaking down Butler. He pretty much convinced me that Malcolm can be very good anywhere.

I'd love to have him.

One play wonder? He did make the pro bowl prior to that. Maybe he breaks up a ton of plays.0

Do you have a clue how it works at all?

No I get it. They could have signed him for the sole reason of trading. him at the time. Teams do it all the time jackass. They could have hashed it out before FA even began.

Also, the analysts were saying Sherman could cost less, like a second . Yes he's older but he would def be shut down for a couple of years. If we are in win now mode I say go that route.

QBs throwing directly at Malcolm Butler went 44-84 for 52.4%, 655 yards, 4 TD, 4 INT, 7.8 YPA, 74.3 passer rating

From a Pats fan
Actually Butler was on Brandon Marshall for quite a bit of the first game this season, as well as Quincy Enunwa and it was by far his worst game this season--only game over 100 yards given up and 2 touchdowns, one each to Marshall and Enunwa. Which lends some credence to his struggles with larger receivers.

If that game is taken out he allowed (7 receptions / 119yards 2 TDs) opponent passer rating drops to 58.

He did redeem himself in the second Jets game with no catches allowed, 2 INTs and fumble recovery. While he moved around, he was on Marshall a bit

Problem is the NFC South is full of Giant receivers. So Breaux will be following Jones,Benjamin amd Evans around while Butler follows Gabriel and Jacksonhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...aab9766b36.jpg

I don't know that it would hurt to have a lucky player on our side...

No, you still don't get it. The Patriots had no say in the matter. They had a tender on Butler. Butler had not signed the tender, so he wasn't under contract. The Patriots couldn't just "sign him for the sole reason of trading him at the time." The Patriots couldn't do squat until Butler decided to sign the tender, which he just did weeks later.

We should get Butler and if so won't draft a CB 1st but the best available probably round 2 pick. DE and future QB picks 11 and 32.

The fact that he signed the tender yesterday might signal that he is getting moved very soon. No one believes he is going to play for $4 million, but at least the chicken-little-theorists who thought we'd lose the number 11 can relax 8-)
