Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
BB strikes again. As deep as this draft is at cb. and depth at the defense side to strenghten this team for years to come, Payton takes a cb. from NE giving up picks is stupid.A team only does that if a team is that position player away from completing a solid D, in which we are nowhere near. OUR CUP DON'T RUNNITH OVER ON THE D SIDE.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
I couldn't agree more. Payton is selling his soul trying to put together a D for his boy Allen(which I have no faith whatsoever in) to run. It amazes me how long and many years that fielding a dreadful D has caused us to stink it up and he has done little to nothing til now. I think Paytons fate is going to depend totally on how his boys Allens D performs and if it fails I hope they fire Payton and Allen.

Man, a lot of people really have a lot of faith in our drafting skills.
I'd much rather have a 27 year old starter than another Cie Grant Jonathan Sullivan Usama Young Sedric Ellis and 5 different CB's Jonathan Vilma for a second was one of our best deals ever |

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
I use to have no faith in our drafting but Ireland has helped me with that more than one could know. It's a great D draft and I really hated giving NE that 4th in the Cooks trade to be honest solely because of depth. I'm not in favor of having to give high picks when they can be used to build on.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
I agree Scotty and if it's 2nd and a decent fair contract, great. The thing is this is the Pats we're dealing with. I'm not in favor of giving up a first round pick for Butler. I honestly think they tagged him over his value so they could move him and get a first for him. They know he's not worth that. They probably already knew they'd get Gilmore. So at best they'd give Butler a one year deal and let him walk.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
Just say no. The price is WAY too high. He's a good player. He's NOT a great player. BB and his staff get the MOST out of they're players. I wouldn't sign him to the money, let alone the draft picks.

Re: Breaking: Malcolm Butler visiting Saints Thursday!
If Loomis can work a deal that has little effect on the cap this season and we only trade the 3rd back to the Patriots then it's a great pickup.
Butler will improve our secondary dramatically and getting Sterling Moore to resign is a priority now. If we get both we will not draft a CB in the 1st 3 rounds but DE and OL. |
