Malik is only twenty years old and he's still learning the game and he didn't like being put at NT by State last season...

Guess he was right to be upset as it has hurt his draft stock, costing him $$$...

McDowell is a better athlete and should have been playing 3T and/or 5T; he will be every bit as good as Cam Jordan...

Could you imagine have two players of Jordan's caliber bookending the defensive line?

He's the goods are Drew Rosenhaus wouldn't be jacking around with him...

He had a better year in 2015 when he wasn't being doubled, and triple-teamed and wasn't stuck at the NT all season...

Really hope McDowell's getting real consideration by the Saints and our scouts don't mail it in as they've done in the past...

Changing my pick to Foster if he is there. He is the only one I think is worthy at 11. LF would be my second but I think he should be in the low teens after thinking about McFadden. He went at 4, good size, insane speed but just a poor overall career. If anyone trades up for LF odds are they get dupped. Historically, not a good idea to take a RB that high but 11 I would entertain it with his size and hands.

LSU Pro day 4/5/2017. I'll be curious to see what LF runs in the 40 & his weight. I expect Tre White and Jamaal to have solid workouts and solidify their 1st round statuses.

Dark horse LSU players who I think will become solid NFL Pros ...

Ethan Pocic - OL
K Beckwith - ILB
Malichi Dupree - WR

Freak part? At the combine he ran as fast as David Johnson, beat Tyler Lockett's 3-cone, and beat Khalil Mack's shuttle

Best hands: O.J. Howard, Alabama

Not only has Howard dropped just six balls over the past three seasons combined, his catch radius is quite impressive. Howard is able to go down low and peel balls off the grass on one play and then grab a ball off of his back shoulder the next.

Best route runner: O.J. Howard, Alabama

Howard’s athleticism shines when it comes to running his routes. He’s such a gifted athlete, with exceptional acceleration and agility that he uses to create separation virtually at will.

I'm warming up to this pick, and would take OJ over any RB. I'm still for defense with the first 3 picks.

BPA is great and all, but we have needs Hill and the Hawaiian haven't delivered

Saints have been sending the house the past couple of years...

I don't get why some fans feel we have to have Tigers on the team...

Maybe because some are actually pretty damn good ? Honestly, I don't care if a kid played his college ball at Muddwatter State, LSU, Bama, Florida, Kutztown St, Miss Valley St., Alcorn ...whatever. We need ballers.

If they can help the Saints win, I'm all in.

Need... Need... Need... Does it really matter at #11?

This guy has everything you are looking for in the next NFL GREAT TE.
Should be a future Pro Bowler for years. Total player... just like Jimmy Graham at TE but can block.

Yes, we do need a pass rusher, but taking Taco @ 11 is a huge mistake. You take the best defensive player available. I don't care how many LBs we've signed. None of them are on Foster's level. If he's there, you pick him and hope for the next Patrick Willis and such. Pass rush can still be addressed with our other picks.

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11

Nobody knows how good Foster is. Plenty habe said concerns with him reading a playbook and the incident at the combine doesn't fill you with confidence either

The major concern with Foster for NFL teams, beyond the off-field questions, is his ability to absorb a playbook. Foster has struggled in interviews with teams who ask him to draw concepts with X's and O's. "I've been working to get better," Foster says. "Other people learn different, other people have ADHD, or have a learning disorder. X's and O's on boards is hard to do for me. I second-guess myself."
He performs best when watching film and learning on the field, [Nick] Saban says. "If you put on the film he'll be able to tell you chapter and verse because that's how he learned it."
In the story, Saban said he hopes whichever NFL team drafts Foster provides him with a "support network" similar to what he had at Alabama. Said Saban, "I think it's important that he has people around him who will provide him good direction, have good experience and the ability to anticipate what's happening, so you don't get these emotional responses to things that are insignificant."

The story does not minimize the Indianapolis incident, however, in which Foster got into a verbal dispute with a hospital worker, reportedly because he was being asked to wait too long for his NFL medical evaluation (Foster has apologized on multiple occasions, including again in the MMQB story). In fact, MMQB reports, at least one team picking in the top 15 has removed Foster from its draft board.

9 games double digit points on us in the 4th. Foster has some issues but we really need defenders with an attitude. He has that mentality. We also have some good young defenders for him to gel with for mentoring.

Injury concerns (Foster) have you swayed or do you think Zach is the better overall LB prospect?
I think if Zach went to any other school not named Vanderbilt, he would be a household name.

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11

Barnett - Like Thomas, Willis (2nd) and Kpassagnon (3rd) better.
Fournette - At 32 sure. A RB in Peytons offense can be found in round 6-7 or in free agency.
Foster - Bama fan. Injuries and attitude are a big red flag. Like McMillan more.
Adams - Just don't see the impact or need that high.
McCaffrey - At 32 sure. All around RB with special teams skills.
Charlton - Size and tools. Scares me on production.

If available at #11, I would go Thomas, Lattimore, Allen, Watson, Williams, Howard, Reddick, or Robinson.

I agree and he probably would have been taught to put more effort into his tackling. That is my #1 knock against him. He is a spaghetti armed tacking machine.

The second knock is absolutely nothing that coaching and reps at the same position can not improve.

I would not be shocked to see him on the board at 32. It would be a mild shocked if he was still there when we pick in round 2.

No way he gets to the third.

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11

I mean he went and got an Auburn tattoo and then committed to Bama. I don't like him or his primadonna attitude but... if Rouxben Foster is there at 11, you'd have to strongly consider him. He may be dumb as a box of rocks, but he's a fine linebacker and knows how to play football. There are plenty of good NFL football players that are barely literate.

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11

You put Reuben Foster at weak side LB and you let him just snot bubble RB's or anyone in his zone. He doesn't have to think too much, just see it and go get it.

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11

Enough with the Reuben Foster nit-picking...

What's wrong with you people? We need a warrior LB who will intimidate players, not impress them with his tact and generosity.

Quote:

“There’s that moment,” Foster says though a smile, “when you first hit somebody and you get chills. You hear the crowd say Ooooh. And before that, when you put on your suit and you transform and you become a dog; you’re a beast. Just seeing all the other guys become a dog with you. No stress.”
- Reuben Foster

C'mon now. Who's not ready to see that kind of player on our defense?

True, I'm not looking for someone to teach my kids calculus, I'm looking for someone who knows what an offense is gonna do, and delivers a bone crushing hit behind the LOS consistently.

Let me introduce you to Reuben Foster.

I wouldn't sleep on DE Charles Harris aka "Black Ice" either. Missou has a history of putting out legit edge rushers at the next level. Projected to be a mid 1st round pick. Charles tape shows you what a perennial first rounder supposed to play like. I'd take him over "Taco" any day.
