Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
Just a bit curious as everyone has been all over the place this off season, though we'd see where everyone is a month before the draft.
Assuming players LB Reuben Foster, RB Leonard Fournette, SS Jamaal Adams are available when we pick at No. 11, if Sean Payton himself were to phone you and asks "who would you take?", what would be your response? :bng: |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
Your scenario Adams no doubt, but I want a DE to be our pick! Barnett would be my pick

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
I think DE is the most pressing need at 11. There will be a CB there at 32 or 42.
I dont know much about Foster but some reports of his X-O knowledge not being there worries me. Ive wanted a big thumping RB for a while so wouldn't be upset if the snagged LF if he was there. I'd understand taking Watson too. I really dont know this year I full expect Charlton if he is there and i love his size as a 4-3 DE Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
DE Derek Barnett is most likely the pick but
I'm hoping we trade down a few picks and draft RB Christian McCaffrey. He will be a first year game changer and fits into what Payton does to create the #1 scoring offense in the league. Also on a side note... there is some part of the Cracker in me that wants a white RB. :beatnik: http://www.funcatpictures.com/wp-con...n-a-bucket.jpg |

I'd go Reuben Foster or Derek Barnett. Either would be fine with me. |

I wouldn't be upset with a McCaffrey pick as long as they drafted some serious defensive talent the rest of the way. But my pick at #11 is Barnett. |

Howard is able to go down low and peel balls off the grass on one play and then grab a ball off of his back shoulder the next. Best route runner: O.J. Barnett is the pick unless Latimore falls then it's him.

Brooks, in his defense there was somebody there to catch it but the ref got in the way. It wasn't like he threw it to air molecules behind him.
Not against going offense though. If that TE is there it would be pretty stupid to pass on him. LF would be a no brainer. Anyone else probably not. |

Yeah, right, get the **** outta here. Who is this really? Scott? Is that you? Very funny. You don't even sound like Sean Payton. Lame. |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
O.J. Howard, TE - COMPARES TO: Jimmy Graham, Seattle Seahawks: An explosive athlete with breakaway speed, lateral agility and balance, Howard projects well as a "move" tight end and hybrid slot receiver, similar to the way that the New Orleans Saints (and subsequently the Seahawks) have featured Graham. He possesses the length and strength to block - showing significant improvement in this area in 2016 - but using him in this way minimizes what makes him special.

Boy there sure are gonna be a few disappointed posters on draft night ...
Saints front office will not pick O.J. Howard @ #11. |

But the better option might just be Shaheen; he's got "ass & mass" to spare - 6' 7" 276 lbs blocking as well catching everything high in rare air!!! (and I wouldn't mind grabbing him in the second) |

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
I think a good defensive end can be had at #32. We need an enforcer at LB. Therefore, I have to go with Foster. We need someone to knock the crap outta people that bust through the D-line.
Btw, a little birdie told me that we are going to sign Butler either right before the draft or on draft day 1. This is a pretty legit source and he is usually right. |

Shaheen's measurables are very comparable to Howard's numbers, but Shaheen already has 25 lbs more on Howard... |

As for J Peppers, I don't see where he has a real position and his tape is just MEH (one INT, 10 passes defensed, and 0 forced fumbles).. I simply don't see ball hawk ability at the next level & he isn't big enough to be a LB. Mike Mayock had Peppers ranked ahead of Adams and Hooker is a head scratcher to me. Jack of all trades, masters of none aren't big on my player types. |

Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
Barnet looks good but Id rather have Solomon Thomas if hes not taken or if we moved up at all ID take Solomon Thomas DE. Solid all around DL man with great instincts and more natural weight on the bones. DT I have Larry Ogunjobi. IF we scored Larry Ogunjobi DT and Solomon Thomas DE that would be amazing to me. Think thats why the #11 and #32 is so important, could happen.
If we pick an RB ID take Samaje Perine over most. He has the skills that work in the NFL. A Deuce/Lynch type of runner with power, and we finally have and effective inside runner. |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
I'm starting to warm to Hagan's mancrush and the idea of taking McCaffrey at No. 11...
No, he might not be a traditional 20+ rushing attempts per game type of player... McCaffrey would be like a Shady McCoy type of back getting 25 touches total... Plus, it would help the defense by eating up the clock with that style of offense... And Payton seems to be on this kick of getting back to how his tenure started with Bush... If I were GM, I still like DL Malik McDowell from Michigan State... He can play up and down the defensive line, he's a physical beast, and only 20 years old... |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
I've really liked the idea of taking Foster, if he fell to us; but now I've got concerns...
While I didn't care for him going big time before his medical exams (and we still don't know if he's been checked out third party), I was bothered more by this "he'll meet with you in the LBer's room at Alabama and discuss it then kinda-thing... If I'm spending that high of a pick, he'll be examined by my doctors and he'll answer question at a meeting of my choosing... The other thing is that there's starting to be some grumbling among scouts about his ability to diagnose plays properly... Now that my be opposing teams playing the red herring game, but he did miss some assignments late against Clemson... We've already got a great linebacker that can hit who has the same problem, so I'm not looking to burden Mike Nolan too much... |
Re: Saints Possible Options At Pick No. 11
My darkhorse is still DE/DT Malik McDowell, Michigan State, 6' 6", 295 lbs., who's rising late in rankings...
Really like that he could play DE in the base and move in like Cam in nickel and dime packages... He's only twenty years old and think he'd be great paired up with our new DL Coach Ryan Nielsen... Now reported he was frustrated with his role this past year having to play NT with no one around him... He physically tested real well and he's got great size, length and 35" arms to control, jam offensive linemen... Reminds me alot of a young Cam Jordan who'll be a late first rounder many teams will regret passing on... |
