AP is close to deal with Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If this happens then the thought of drafting Mcaffery is probably off the table, which is ok w me. Our first 2 picks really need to be defense. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using Tapatalk...

Just turned 32, but has missed 2 of last 3 seasons... is that good or bad?

considering we paid Sproles $5 mill a a year and Reggie similar to that for the same job, I like it

Don't like signing a child abuser at all, I hope it's not true. I'll pull for the saints either way, I'll just not cheer that child abuser

It's not going to go down like that. AP has spent his career lining up in the 'I' and having the ball handed to him 20+ times a game. That is not the Saints' offense.

His primary role? Decoy. He'll get the ball just enough to draw the defense to the LOS. He'll get the ball sometime on 1st and 10. Sometime on 3rd and 2.

Ingram has developed himself into a 3 down back in the Saints' offense. He can run efficiently, catch the ball in the flat, and pickup the blitz.

AP doesn't have as effective a skillset. And the Saints are not going to change their offensive philosophy to accommodate what AP does best.

So don't go thinking that suddenly the Saints will become LSU. It's not going down that way.

Adrian Peterson to Saints doesn’t make much sense, for Peterson | ProFootballTalk

Um, definitely not the same job. There's no way in hell that AP is coming in to play the joker role in the Saints offense.

Dude is a backup insurance policy and spot starter if necessary. Like has been said elesewhere in this thread, he'll get a slice of Hightower's carries.

It's the #2 RB by committee role that has been served by Hightower, Robinson, and Ivory in the past.

BTW Sproles didn't get $5 million a year. He was traded to the Eagles because the Saints were unwilling to pay him $3.4 million IIRC:

Legendary football player? Definitely. Enlightened parent? Not a chance.
