Not that I'd not like to see some guys get a fair shot at the roster, this is what we have before the draft on defense... DEFENSE DE (2) 94 - Cameron Jordan, 55 - Darryl Tapp DT (2) 98 - Sheldon Rankins, 93 - David Onyemata NT (2) 90 - Nick Fairley, 95 - Tyeler Davison DE (2) 57 - Alex Okafor, 44 - Hau'oli Kikaha SLB (2) 50 - Stephone Anthony, 54 - Nate Stupar MLB (2) 58 - A.J. Klein, 00 - Manti Te'o WLB (2) 59 - Dannell Ellerbe, 52 - Craig Robertson LCB (2) 40 - Delvin Breaux, 20 - Ken Crawley FS (3) 48 - Vonn Bell, 31 - Rafael Bush, 49 - Shiloh Keo SS (2) 32 - Kenny Vaccaro, 30 - Erik Harris, 37 - Chris Banjo RCB (3) 25 - P.J. Williams, 24 - Sterling Moore, 21 - De’Vante Harris That's a good roster before the draft, injuries; and then you can have one or two from the following pool of players make the leap this year: 92 - Justin Zimmer, 96 - Ashaad Mabry, 42 - Travis Feeney, 58 - Obum Gwacham, 77 - D.J. Pettway, 61 - Royce LeFrance, 35 - Robenson Therezie, 27 - Damian Swann, 00 - Anthony Gaitor, 43 - Jimmy Pruitt, 39 - Taveze Calhoun, 00 - Forrest Hightower I'd watch for Zimmer, Feeney, Mabry, Swann, and Pruitt in this group... Swann and Pruitt can also play safety, they just need to stick with special teams and they could upset Crawley or De"Vante... Zimmer has plus, plus athleticism, if he can adjust to the pro game (and don't forget that Nielsen hiring), he could be a great backup to Rankins and allow Ony to move and backup all along the d-line... Mabry also made a good challenge to make the roster last season... And Feeney is another LBer to watch; if he makes the squad, that allows Robertson to backup Klein and improves the MLB depth... |
Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
A pass rusher and cornerback would make the world of difference and are needs imo. Outside of that its best player you can and depth for certain positions. Safety needs looked at and if Adams somehow slipped if tbe QB run happens id be at that podium faster than Usain Bolt

Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
Makes sense but man, just strange. I guess last year he got a strong sense he was no longer going to be that guy so this role should not be an issue. If he can play this role on par with Hightower it will work well.

Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
He will be better than Hightower and actually has the ability to take games over. MIA needs to show up this year.

Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
This interesting to me: I'm over looking at Vikings forums expecting the same kind of explosion the birds forum does when somebody sneezes on them and you know what? The Purple People are extremely rational. Here are some of the quotes I found:
Paraphrased from an earlier thread on this - "why not, he's already won them one Super Bowl" one year, 3 million. Ingram will run out of the shotgun and AP will be used in I-formation, play action passes and we will get to see what every coach of ours envisioned with play action and a good qb under center. I get the feeling we will see a 1,000 yd, 15 td season. Re: AP a Saint? WTF Yesterday at 2:35 PM Not sure 155 touches is going to allow AP to have 1,000+ yard season. The Saints love to throw the ball which will limit his playing time, plus their defense cannot stop anyone, so they never have a lead to sit on. Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate expects Mark Ingram to remain the Saints' starter even if Adrian Peterson is signed. At worst, both backs will have a role as Underhill notes the Saints rushed 404 times last season, and face an easier schedule this year, meaning they should have more rushing attempts in positive game script. Ingram's versatility will keep him heavily involved; Peterson never developed passing-game value as a receiver or pass blocker. Tim Hightower last year finished with 155 touches, so the Saints were always going to add another back. It was kind of obvious that the NFL knew Peterson was going to sign with New Orleans when they made the Week One MNF game the Vikings vs. Saints. Is it a wonder Minnesota is constantly listed as the least stressful state in the nation, even with snow up to their ying yangs through half the year? |
Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
We don't love to throw the ball. WE HAVE TO because our D sucks.
When you have to come from behind all the time it limits what you do... Our SB run was a equal pass / run offense in fact I would argue we were a run team then. |
Re: Adrian Peterson to sign with Saints
I no longer understand why a feature RB is needed. Some games great, have to pound it but other games no. It won't work. After watching the Pats this season, you never really knew what they were doing. James White might blow you up the whole game or, they may ignore him entirely and shove Blount in your face, or a mix of both at certain times. Never could really get a bead on them and hard to defend.
