Re: Payton need to go?

What the team showed yesterday is perhaps we need to ride out the season and allow Payton to save his job. Maybe this was our wake up call, or it was Carolina not showing up. Not really sure. If we are 9-7 or better this year (it is a tough schedule) then that would be considerable progress.

Those were all pre Jeff Ireland if you would notice. The quality player acquisition since Ireland arrived has turned up several notches. By pointing out those players you are basically reinforcing how much better things are currently. Everything is pointing in the right direction. It would be foolish to derail the train once we have finally got it back on track.

Exactly. While Loomis/Payton still needs some more organization checks and balances to limit the personnel gaffes and buffoonery, we're not having 0-3 strikeouts in the drafts as we've had before...

And the rush to re-sign Fairley and then to face the consequences within a few days of not doing due diligence really gave cause for them to put checks and balances to save them from themselves (Payton/Loomis)...

You can not not look at this team and say the recent changes in draft process and positional coach hirings are not signs we're turning the corner...

Let's get healthier and play a few more games and make a judgement at the end of the season...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

The Fairly situation and also Breaux made them reconsider the medical partnerships so that point have been improved too.

Re: Payton need to go?

In his press conference about the players sitting, he stated he loves and supports those players, so for me, that is biggest reason he can hit the road with them now.
Prior to this latest anthem fiasco, I read in another thread how he has lost his fire and drive and I think there is merit to that statement.

See the problem there also was this unilateral decision to, first, use them, and, second, it was rubber stamp when Payton wanted a player without any other organization input to vet a player out completely...

Expediting those vetting processes and giving one man to much autonomy leads to these premature contracts that can hamstring a team; now we need another DT and we missed out in FA because we'd committed to Fairley...
