Not a player fan. Now by saying that, would love brees to finish here with a ring. We are no where even close, I'm starting to fall in line with most here. Blow up the team, trade brees get as much as we can. He deserves another ring.Throw the top two outand start all over again.

If Payton were to leave it's a different story but as long as he is here nothing is going to change.
Find a young QB in the first round and build a line around him and give him time for the defense to get good enough to help him out.

So what exactly would you like to see happen? The Browns or Texans QB situation while we try to build a defense? I prefer seeing one of the greatest and future hall of fame QBs on our team as long as he can perform at an elite level which he still can. What young QB do you see available right now? I much prefer not having to worry about the QB position right now like we did in the days of Scott, Douglas, Wilson, Todd, the 2 Billy Joes and the lists goes on. We had one of the best defenses in the league with the Dome Patrol but still would lose because we didn't have a QB and offense. No disrespect to you but I just don't understand the willingness to want to let go one of the greatest Saints players ever unless he wants to leave which I doubt.

Re: Saints & Brees chatting about $100 million extension

Drew Brees cap hit of $25 million or about 15% of the cap?

That is a killer to be honest.

Lets clear some cap

kenny Vaccaro = 4 yrs, $21million?

Coby Fleener
Potential Out: 2018, 2 yr, $14,741,169; $4,800,000 dead cap

Thomas Morstead
Potential Out: 2018, 6 yr, $19,014,097; $700,000 dead cap

Mark Ingram.
Potential Out: 2018, 3 yr, $11,431,671; $1,645,000 dead cap

lets look to 2019

Terron Armstead
Potential Out: 2019, 3 yr, $31,321,000; $7,400,000 dead cap

Nick Fairley
Potential Out: 2019, 2 yr, $14,000,000; $4,000,000 dead cap

I guess we have our draft strategy

Drew's cap hit doesn't look that bad when you compare it to the rest of the league. Quarterbacks are expensive.

Based upon the estimated 2018 cap it is closer to 14% which has been around the average for QB's in the NFL for the past decade. That isn't a killer, it is the norm. It would only be a killer if the QB sucked. It is a bargain for an elite QB.

... and Trevor Simian for the win? Ridiculous cap figure! Is Denver winning any games this year with a QB with such a low cap?

Drew Is Not The Problem! You want to keep the face of the franchise as long as possible. Especially when he's still playing at an elite level.

The reason Green Bay traded Favre was because they had Rodgers waiting in the wings. We have know one behind Brees. Let the man finish his career a Saint.
