Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

If our season is a success then it's a late 1st that we gave up. We have been crying for years to get another DE opposite of Jordan and we finally got one....and we should have great depth at that position.

Maybe we get the Chewbacca one. Atlanta will get Jar Jar Binks.

I can’t tell you how happy I am to get Davenport. A great pass rush helps the backfield. Jackson imo, is highly overrated. No way he would of been ready in a year or two. Hill, again imo, is head and shoulders above Jackson

Great athlete, raw talent, huge gamble, all in for 2018. Basically statement that this is the year; 2019 back to 500 if this doesn't work

Seriously? I mean...really? No one else in our cloud at 27? This screams win now! This doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling I had hoped for. Davenport needs to make an impact! Uhhmmm........

Where does this guy go if not 14? Think he goes high teens or later. Feel we overpaid firmly but we will see. I will eat crow if he is making money for us late in the season.

The dumb**** Mayock thought it was Jackson for sure.

Told y'all that Brees is here for many more years.

Davenport may very well turn into a stud, but right now he’s a developmental prospect from a non-power 5 conference. It would be pretty risky to sell the farm for him.

I wanted Lamar Jackson or Derwin James.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

If it was for vea I would go to bed with a smile. If it was a second rd trade for next year, I wouldn't be so upset. If it was for Lamar Jackson I would understand. Unless Marcus turn out to be AP defensive rookie of year this will be a bad trade

Sorry, but anyone other than a QB because Brees is here for years to come. And Lamar Jackson has repeatedly promoted the fact that he would never play any other position other than QB. His mother has made sure that was a well known fact, as well.

No matter how fantastic an athlete, or QB, that Jackson can be, that does not fit into the Saints' short term plans. We don't need an uber talented athlete that refuses to help the team and insists on holding a clipboard wasting a roster spot.

Agree. Not a fan of Jackson and never really thought there was a real chance we would pick him up. He don't fit on this team.

Me neither, Mike! What did we trade? The 27th this year and the 32nd 2019? Cool beans!

19-0 Baby!

Cause we didn't have to. But obviously they felt it was necessary. Good enough for me.

I think the Saints should try to trade into the 2nd round and snag one of those remaining TEs. They could hand over their 3rd for this year and maybe next years 5 or 6.

Would have stayed put at #27 and taken DT Maurice Hurst.

Why would you rather have Hurst over Davenport?

This is why I defer to the front office choices.

No where on this list

This tells me he can be had in later rounds.

Next we trade up to get Guice or Hurst and we will be using Ingram to get there with the Colts.

Don't know about Hurst and his cardiology, as he we're still litigating a settlement with Fairley and his cardiac issues...

But I will say there's a valid point that you can get complementary pressure to Cam on the passer besides Defensive End...

Said Chris with all the smug temerity he could muster... ;)

Kidding aside - great call, great call indeed - just still trying to see how teams rated him so high after he was checked at the Senior Bowl...

Level of competition for some reason gets largely ignored...

When a guy drops like Hurst has, you now have to ask yourself why he's still available.

Looking like quality depth might not be happening?

Decent depth can be had in the later rounds if we don't throw away pick after pick.

Kind of surprised Sonny and Penny were both selected before Derrius. Surely his name is called today on Day 2.

jeanpierre 04-27-2018 08:16 PM

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

Ironically, the 2018 second round pick traded last year to select RB Alvin Kamara was used by the Washington Redskins to select RB Derrius Guice of...LSU... :|

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

S Ronnie Harrison has not been drafted yet...

Safeties that can't run and cover (Roman Harper, Kenny Vaccaro) are a liability...
