I'm thinking either Hurst, TE Mark Andrews, or G Tyrell Crosby

Sucks... TE Marc Andrews was selected 5 picks before us.

I still like Troy Fumagali a little later at TE

Also wouldn't mind trading back here if the opportunity presents itself.

Great deep threat, great run blocker. Compares favorably to Allen Robinson according to some of the draft experts.

Gotta admit I don't know much about him, I am liking what I'm seeing though. They're saying he's a project but that shouldn't be a problem this year. Hopefully he's ready to go year 2, we let Ginn walk and we run with a big, young WR corps.

Big playmaking receiver who catches everything thrown his way AND can take the top off the defense. 3rd down’s are his bread and butter. Absolutely great pick.

Chris, I gotta lot of respect for your knowledge, but I'd like to know what you're basing that on...

What I've seen in Tra'Quan is unsure hands, bobbles balls/un-clean catches against his body...

He struggles against press corners and I don't seem him taking the top off defenses with a 4.49 sec 40...

While only 6-1, his arms are longer than his height - but he doesn't show a large catch radius, catching many balls against his body...

His route running is, well, raw, undiscipline, rounding off routes, lacking suddeness in his breaks...

One of his positives is that he is a willing and able blocker downfield for teammates...

But we didn't need to take a slightly better Brandon Coleman in Round 3 - he was a Round 5 pick at best...

Especially with guys like DT Harrison Phillips, OL Alex Cappa, TE Dalton Schultz, QB Kyle Lauletta still available...

As fortunate as last year's draft was, I'm not very optimistic about the grade on this draft in three years...

And if we're drafting because of a window on Drew Brees, I'm especially p*ssed off that we've mortgaged the future for one guy...

Further, where was this urgency since the Superbowl win in 2010 or even three years ago?

It took a minute but this pick is starting to grow on me. He should get plenty of reps with Meredith slowly getting back in the mix and I feel he will contribute early with a little coaching from Coach CJ.

Y'all might hate me for saying so, but this draft feels like garbage as far as value goes. Davenport for next yrs 1st regardless if its 1 or 32 is a huge risk considering how raw he is. I like this receiver, but raw as can be too. Coulda got him later.

Our coaches are in for alotta work with these 2. We're swinging for the fences, but looking like we hit ourselves in the back of the head with the bat.

Ill gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but I get this sunken gut feeling we're reverting to a 2014-type class. Got the same feeling then. We'll see when the pads go on, though. We still have 4-7 rds & UDFAs to get a better feel.

I could see some of that... but in Ireland we trust? I never like trading up. Maybe Tre'Quan will be used like a TE?

Disappointed not in this WR in the 3rd but that we passed over DTs (Phillips) and Maurice Hurst.

Who cares about heart condition if we get 7 years or so from Maurice Hurst at his elite level of play? May not be able to afford to resign him then anyway.

He was available only because 32 teams group-thinked themselves outta an obvious great deal...like OT/OG L'ael Collins in the 7th recently.

For the chickens, just go for Phillips. We desperately need a NT or penetrating DT and we could've had one in the 3rd.

The value was in the 2nd round...should've traded down not up for our choice of TEs (except Hurst) then the DT in the 3rd. A trade down into the 2nd would net another 3rd to use on this WR (or Gallup).

I'm glad the Saints picked up another WR mid rounds. If Thomas ever goes down for an extended period, we're screwed. By all accounts Tre is athletic, good hands & his body of work says he's highly productive. Also has deceptive speed.

Oh how I hope you're right. Davenport scare me with the possibility of being a Courtney Brown. TreQuan, I can't see him on the depth chart challenging for a spot. This draft is reminiscent to after Goodell strip us of draft picks. I hope they haven't got complacent after the best draft ever.

Always appreciate your evaluations JP! I’ve tried staying away from posting during the draft because I wanted to let everything sink in and not be too reactionary. I’m going to go back and look at the tape for everyone we draft plus our UDFA’s and maybe do some sort of recap with my take on everything.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

Here's what I am taking from the Saints draft so far. We must feel really good about our defense as is, minus the left end spot. I don't know if that is accurate, but that must be what coaches think and feel.

Clearly we feel we have a need at wide receiver. I think all of us have thought we could add a player or two there, but I also felt we needed help at tight end. Fleecer has not got it done. Maybe this is his break out year and him and drew get on the same page.

I wonder if we will add a tight end, oline, and dt the rest of the draft?

I haven't been overly excited about this draft. Feel like we gave up too much for the move up and not sure in other drafts if that guy is a number 14. But I am also just a fan. If the coaches are that certain about the rest of our d then I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. If that guys pans out we could have a strong dline that gets after the QB, and it all starts up front

The complicit local media reported that Ireland and his staff set the boards "North and South" and then Payton and Loomis move them "East and West"...

He said speed is not his game. All about fighting for it in the air deep. Makes sense. Brees does float them out there but gonna be hard breaking into this WR group.
