What I've seen in Tra'Quan is unsure hands, bobbles balls/un-clean catches against his body...

He struggles against press corners and I don't seem him taking the top off defenses with a 4.49 sec 40...

While only 6-1, his arms are longer than his height - but he doesn't show a large catch radius, catching many balls against his body...

His route running is, well, raw, undiscipline, rounding off routes, lacking suddeness in his breaks...

One of his positives is that he is a willing and able blocker downfield for teammates...

But we didn't need to take a slightly better Brandon Coleman in Round 3 - he was a Round 5 pick at best...

Especially with guys like DT Harrison Phillips, OL Alex Cappa, TE Dalton Schultz, QB Kyle Lauletta still available...

As fortunate as last year's draft was, I'm not very optimistic about the grade on this draft in three years...

And if we're drafting because of a window on Drew Brees, I'm especially p*ssed off that we've mortgaged the future for one guy...

Further, where was this urgency since the Superbowl win in 2010 or even three years ago?

I know I am a fat old lineman but I am seeing nothing but clean catches, the one he bobbles I wouldn't have expected him to catch, and it looked like he tipped it back to himself (It was out of bounds).

Rick Leonard

So our 4th round pick is an OT who has only been playing OT for a year and a half...yeesh. I like that they went O line but I don't understand taking this guy.

The NFL scouting report not exactly glowing

Lacks fundamentals
Hard to see anything but PS material

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

Overview
Leonard is a top-heavy tackle with decent athleticism but lacking in consistency and fundamentals at this stage of his development. There is enough athleticism and potential to work with, but he is still a project with a lack of body control and balance that creates challenges in landing anywhere but a practice squad early in his career.

Perhaps the FO sees something I don't. I'm not too high on this pick.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

Oh no... Rick Leonard wasn’t even a draftable prospect. Pretty much unanimously projected to be an undrafted free agent. This is awful.

Yeah I don't see it. Position makes sense, though I personally was hoping they'd be trying to shore up the interior line, but this guy? Oh well..hoping for the best, expecting he doesn't even make the squad.

Trying to keep faith with the FO after this pick but good grief! With all the o line out there why him? I’ve yet to find any good words on him.

Not liking this draft so far, Jeff Ireland magic seems to have disappeared. Too many project picks.

Ugh! Love 1st two picks, not liking this one at all just based on what I'm reading.

Projected as an UDFA in the 4th?

I would have liked this pick in the 6th or 7th, but the 4th?

Maybe a move to dt? Guy is 6’7 311 pounds.

Idiotic move, old Payton and Loomis seem to be back.

I guess the good news is there's still some value on the board. Hopefully a few guys keep falling.

Bruh....for all of that they could have just taken a chance with Crosby if you wanted a OT...

But selecting a projected UDFA in the 4th round, how dumb are the FO?

I dunno man.. we can only hope they've got something up their sleeve regarding this guy. A common theme amongst our picks this year seems to be guys who are considered unfinished products. Maybe they're trying to adopt the Patriots philosophy of bringing in guys and molding them in their desired image.

A few guys I like still on the board and falling. Shaquem Griffin, Troy Fumagali, Hurst is still falling, as is Tim Settle.

I just heard he had a private workout with us so I'll hold out hope that we see something that nearly no one else does.

Head scratcher for sure.

Projected as a UDFA by exactly which NFL GM's and head coaches?? They are the ones that matter. If the front office wanted him and had the feeling that they were not alone in that desire then making the move makes perfect sense.

Reaching like Plastic Man at this point. Might as well go for Ballage at this point or the one handed feller.

Parry Nickerson, Ade Aruna, Kylie Fitts, Tim Settle, Harrison Phillips, Austin Corbet, Tyrell Crosby, Wyatt Teller, Geron Christian, Chuks Okorafor, Tarvarius Moore, Ronnie Harrison

The fact is that the front office knows far more about the individuals they consider drafting than most of the so called experts and every single person in the forum. I am confident that the move was warranted. You cannot evaluate any player drafted until you have seen them on an NFL field.

Man I did not want to say that, but this draft is starting to remind me of yesteryear when we screwed the pooch

Clearly hoping I am way wrong

Projected by who?

Everyone has projections... Saints have him home runs last couple of years. You have to trust their process at this point.

Yes and no. 2006 was a great draft for us and then a few years later we were making questionable selections. So yes and no

That feeling I had in 2014 has returned...just a 4th Rd garbage pick considering all the talent left on the board.

Sure they know more than I know, but this is a dumpster fire as far as I'm concerned. Leonard coulda been had in the 7th or UDFA.

2016 and 2017 drafts have been great. What is the difference? Jeff Ireland. This is not the same brain trust as those prior to 2016.

Really hoping for DT Tim Settle here in the 5th

Certainly, so we hope. I do like the wide rec we took and I like the first round choice too. Last one has me shaking my head though.

There is obviously factors that we all aren't aware of. Payton could have saw him play and had an instant hard on. The player could have been more valued by teams than what the media thought. There are a ton of things, so I wouldn't be so quick to call Payton and Loomis an idiot over this. That being said, from an outsider perspective, I don't get the pick.

Looks like BPA went out the window with the last pick, considering the other talent that was available when we selected the 498th rated player.

Don't know who it was, but someone on NFL Network said the Leonard pick made sense because of the lack of depth on the o-line for the Saints. He said Leonard can play all across the line and could be the swing player the Saints need.

Yea, that makes sense. Probably a guy that they could see playing multiple positions on the line.

How do you know that? Who had him rated 498? Which GM? Which head coach?

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

I mean when it comes down to it, we probably need a guy that can be inserted anywhere on the line encase of an injury more than a guy that plays one position and has starter potential.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft - Draft Day

I feel like they picked Leonard to be a mauler on the o-line that they can mold into a G or T. I'm not hurt by the pick at all - we need more bodies up front.
