Re: Saints trying to work Cameron Meredith into game plan for Falcons

It's actually very rational. He was the star on a 3-13 team where several of the starting WR's were on IR. If not for that he would have never seen the field or not enough to matter but that happened so here we are. Nobody has emerged as the slot WR. 1 catch does not make anyone the hands down winner. It takes a body of consistent work for that to happen. What is irrational is basing anything off of one 11 yard TD grab with nothing else behind it. He literally has 1 single catch going into week four. |

I bet you $20 bucks that there will be 10 more threads that wind up talking about the $20 bet with Guido.

I hope he has success and know everyone on this forum wants that to happen. What I won't do is crown him the slot at this time. I was not willing to do that when we signed him, through training camp, PS or even now. Not enough body of work to say he is our best option. That is what I have said from day one. Nothing has changed my mind so far. Is he our best option? I can't say. I honestly do not know. If he gets 2 catches next game then yeah, he is on his way. I want to see a small amount of consistency. I don't think that is too much to expect. Could Tre'Quan emerge next week? I have no freaking idea. I just hope we figure it out because MT and Kamara can't keep this up forever. |

Re: Saints trying to work Cameron Meredith into game plan for Falcons
When you have a great receiver as your number 2 option, it tends to open up things a lot for the offense. Just look what Ridley did to us yesterday. Ridley is the type of player that needs to be covered by a Lattimore caliber DB. Unfortunately we couldn't do that cause they have Julio Jones as well. I hate to admit it, but Jones and Ridley together is scary... and we saw that yesterday. There will be a ton of teams that will have a hard time covering that combo. If Meredith can make big strides in the offense, we are going to be hard as **** to cover as well. Our offense I think is going to be scary good as the season plays out. Once our running game gets into gear with Ingram, I think we're going to put up a ton of points every game. If our defense can just make some strides, I think we'll be fine. I don't even think our defense needs to be as good as it was last year to be successful, but it has to be better than it has been.

Just not something I get involved in. I have a higher morale code. I root for what is best for the team. If he emerges great. So far nobody owns that role and we are heading in to week 4 and , as I have firmly stated, would be the case. He has one catch just like everyone else. It is a TD but it is also for much less yards than the other two receptions by quite a bit. If you believe he is going to be rolling as the 3rd WR then great. I base my convictions on reality. He has already had a setback as he stated in injury recovery. I took that as actually bad. Not sure how you read it. Coach also said his timing and route running is off. I took that as bad. These are not my words. These are from him and Peyton. |
