I don’t think anyone expected him to be ready. A lot of people didn’t like the signing because they thought he would take longer to heal. That being Saturday said Payton said he was ready physically a month or so ago. Either Payton lied or he just isn’t catching on. A vet should be able able to step in pretty quickly if they are as good as MerIdeth was made out to be.

91% of the receptions will continue to go to the same players. That leaves everyone else with next to nothing. When Ingram returns it will only get worse for CM and Tre'Quan.

Only way would be injury related or if Peyton starts tinkering with something that is not broken which he won't. Brees does not have to spread the ball around as much having the best two players in the NFL right now. He never had that before so things look different.

Another thing, when MI returns and we get our run game online again forget about WR 3 and 4. They become next to invisible at that point.

Brees is completing 81% of his passes which is insane. Introducing another target right now is not needed.

No, that jives exactly with the timeline I gave. One month ago Meredith was given the okay to be full go. That's when he started working out with the second string ... week three of the preseason. Until this past week, according to Payton, he hadn't gotten all of the nuances of the offense down yet, much like the others stood weeks ago. Apparantly this past week they determined he was caught up enough to move up to the first string and start getting on the same page with Brees.

You can't play winning football throwing to only two targets.

It's actually 4 targets but those are seesawed more. That will continue if Brees keeps completing 81% of his passes which is stupid. Nothing is saying he can't keep doing that right now. Browns have a good D and they could not do it.

As long as they don’t make it obvious that they’re looking to force feed him the ball.

Defenses will quickly begin to recognize what you’re up to.

Doubt Sean would do that though, he can be pretty tricky.

This I agree with. We are going to need someone to step up be it Smith, Carr, or Meridith. I have about given up on the running game. Until Ingram gets back we are just going to have to Air it out and use Kamara. Either our two best players are going to get hurt or defenses will find a way to stop them if we don’t.
What’s Coleman doing these days? I’m sure his blocking alone wouldn’t hurt.

He can also be pretty damn hard headed.

Have people forgotten that our offense was at it’s best when Brees had 8 or 9 different people catching passes per game? I don’t understand being so critical of trying to get back to doing what we do best.
