That seems unusual for someone who had and entire offseason to learn. Let's get him in there and see what he can do!

I don't quite get that read. The article's writer wrote something about the limited practice time hadn't given him the chance to pick up on all of the nuances of the offense. It sounds to me more physical and timing related. I would imagine it would take many repetitions in Payton's offense to be able to change offensive assignments based upon defensive alignments and to be on the same page as Brees on those calls. And then also have the timing down on all of those variations. From everything I have studied about Payton's offense, a given WR can have as many as three different routes on one base play and the defense would dictate which route is to be run. The timing is different, of course, on each different route. He needs to be on the same page as Brees since Brees is reading the same thing and anticipating where the WR is supposed to be at a certain count. This isn't something that can be accomplished in whiteboard sessions alone.
Meredith was about two weeks behind the other WR's in on field practice with Brees. This is basically Meredith's week one after four weeks of his version of preseason.
