Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?
It was Cover 2. Lattimore could have drifted back a little more if there was no imminent threat to his zone, but Bell should have been over the top regardless. He was late. He got caught looking in the backfield.

It is impossible for Bell to travel in a straight line to where Brown scored before Brown gets there unless Lattimore stands him up before releasing him or directs him inside. So either Bell was lined up over the tight end in error, the coaches are idiots or Lattimore made an error. Both safeties lined up over the slot receivers. On the opposite side of the field the corner carried his receiver to the five and gave up the flat. Lattimore released Brown at full speed at the ten. Bell has already moved 5 yards towards that sideline but he is still 15 yards away from the pylon. Bell would have to sprint from his position at the snap to have any hope of meeting Brown at the pylon. Blaming it on a late recognition or reaction is stupid. Usain Bolt would have struggled to get there in time out the blocks. |
