CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Him opposite Lattimore would be sick. Who do we trade, Teddy? The Cards are going nowhere fast. But who am I kidding... he's an LSU guy. And we know how SP feels about LSU, don't we?...

Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

I’d offer our 2019 2nd round pick in a heartbeat. Then we just draft for depth with our remaining day three picks. Heck, I’d even consider throwing in our 2nd round pick in 2020 as well.

No way, you could get him for a 3rd. He is on the back end of his career and has a bad contract to boot. I would make the deal, but if it were to happen the bye week should have been the spot for it.

I only say 2nd round pick because we traded our 3rd rounder for Bridgewater. It’s the only compensation of any value we can offer.

Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

What do the Cardinals need? Draft Picks and Offensive linemen...

We've already put two first rounders into Davenport and a third rounder into Bridgewater, who's "extension" is a spreading out his cap hit over a couple of seasons...

The only thing I can see that might, might, get it done in the way of draft picks is two second round picks...

Now, the other thing is offensive linemen; now I've made my feelings about Armstead known (I'm not a fan), but there's no way I move him right now in the midst of this special run...

Plus, we're wicked thin with both Peat (out) and Warford (questionable), so we lack the necessary healthy depth to possibly package a good offensive linemen with a draft pick...

Payton, Loomis and Allen have again made a terrible miscalculation in believing they could get it done with a Crawley/Williams/Robinson opposite Lattimore solution...

Coleman was a bargain, but is not being used in his traditional safety role by Allen; Robinson went down with an injury and is not likely back this season...

Mr. Marcus, despite a terrific camp, has shown regression in the early part of the season, maybe scheme tweaks, simplifying scheme will get him back on track...

And we release two draft picks who were immediately snatched up by other teams while keeping at least one cornerback who's since been released...

Don't see how this secondary doesn't get remedied without a Peterson-type talent, unfortunately, we've prematurely spent our assets and draft cache and now have little options...

And the Cardinals already have Rosen, so you'd have to bring in another trade partner, or a different trade partner if you want to move Bridgewater...

Moving Bridgewater makes sense because if Brees goes down, the season is pretty much done anyway...

Denver has defensive assets, but Elway could have gone after Bridgewater and didn't; Miami is still in denial, at least for this season, about their quarterbacking situation...

Maybe Jacksonville? They seem committed to Bortles, though if he got injured, I could see them wanting to save their season; PS - I'd like not to pray for someone to get hurt...

Loomis needs to step the **** up and get real creative with a CB solution or we're gonna bounced in the playoffs...

I’d move the second rounders.

Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

Consistent pressure from the D line would go a long way towards helping out whoever is playing the #2 CB spot. That's the most realistic and achievable solution at this juncture.

The problem is that Arizona wouldn't move one of their best defensive players for any pick because their likelihood of replacing it kind is minimal.

No way they let Peterson go.

Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

If Peterson is too big of a swing, we should consider Gareon Conley of the Raiders. Gruden wants to move him and he was right up there with Lattimore in the ‘17 draft.

Re: CB Patrick Peterson ... Should We?

It could be a great fit given the LSU ties and that the Saints and Cardinals are going in opposite directions. But I worry about the money and the fact that he's already played for 8 years in the league.
