EB looks like an action figure, but he tested in the lower third in nearly every combine event that he participated; he didn't run the 40 at the combine which bothers me from a competitive standpoint (he runs 4.68-4.75)... With regards to route running, little variety, mostly limited to go/seam routes but he did do a good job of adjusting routes to create small windows of separation for his passer; the few breaking routes I saw lacked suddenness... He has good, strong, soft hands; he consciously makes an effort to catch the ball with his hands and not against his body; but he doesn't snatch the ball like a WR, he looks more like a well-coached tight end using his hands... Butler will be scheme limited to a West-Coast-style passing game, short 5-10 PaYd Attempts where he'll need to make YAC work on strength, cause he's only got one gear and he'll have to have a break early on to win a score... Another concern that I picked up on is that he's a less than willing blocker and in the Saints offense, that won't fly. Also when his number isn't called, he Randy Moss'ed it, so his defenders broke off early to help teammates... Don't see an active roster spot at this time. Saints have got six possession receivers right now who have a year of more producing in the NFL; good PS candidate that needs to get stronger and two off-seasons of coaching... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Fun fact: PR (1) 35 - Marcus Sherels (FA 2019)
In 2018, Sherels had six punt returns of 20 yards or more, tying him for second most in the NFL. |
