Reggie Bush, Marques Colston to enter Saints’ Hall of Fame

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Kamara had more highlight plays in one season than Bush had his entire career. We need to start raising the bar on who gets in the Saints HOF. I don't see how Bush belongs. I would put Sproles in there ...

I totally get that angle Beast however ...

The decision makers behind the Saints HOF voting could also factor in what "impact" (Hurricane Katrina) /contributions a player may have made to the organization off the field that would evoke memories for years or in some cases a lifetime. IIRC (someone correct me if that isn't accurate), Bush still hold both records (longest runs) in Saints playoff punt & receiving TD history. I don't think we get a Lombardi without him. Key piece to the offense.

He's not in the Canton discussion, however Saints HOF ?? I'd say yes without question .

Yeah, he was on the SB team and as you stated, holds some team records, did a lot of good for the community so I get it. I guess I'm just spoiled rotten with Kamara now. He raised the bar too damn high.

What about Gleason? He blocked a punt and was a decent special team guy but does he belong in the HOF? I say he does, He’s got my vote. He did and continues to do more for us and our community than any other player in Saints history.
It’s not all about what’s done on the field.

I remember Gleason being part of a blocked punt against the Bucs in 2002. Can't remember if it was the home game, or the season opener on the road. We blocked in both of those games.

The Haslett teams may have been stuck in mediocrity of 8-8 and 9-7 seasons, but we had some awesome special teams... Beer Man was a joy to watch.

He had 3 but the Atlanta blocked kick may go down as the most important play in franchise history given the impact it had on the city. Beer Man was fun as hell to watch.
And who knows what would have happened if Haslett didn’t have such a hard on for Brooks.

Brooks was not the problem on those teams IMO. I know he wasn't an elite QB, but he was far from as bad as fans make him out to be. I'd rather have him than Bobby Hebert back in the 90's.

He was just fine in 2001, 2002 and 2003 (even outplaying Jake Delhomme that entire year. 2003 Panthers are one of the flukiest SB teams ever and really should've got their doors blown off by the Pats in the big game)

2002 season was derailed by Brooks' injury though. Haslett should've sat him and put Delhomme in, but my guess is that the team didn't want to end up having a QB controversy on their hands like they had with Jeff Blake after the 2000 season.

Reggie doesn't even look a year older than when we drafted him.

Re: Reggie Bush, Marques Colston to enter Saints’ Hall of Fame

Compare him to his contemporaries, even on his team, and you'll find Pierre Thomas actually has more Saints RB numbers than Reggie...

Pierre Thomas is 5th with 3,745 RuYds & Reggie is 12th at 2090 RuYds; Receiving Back? Well, Pierre Thomas is 1st among RBs (16th OAL) with 2,608 ReYds & Reggie is 3rd among RBs (22nd OAL) with 2,142 ReYds...

So the numbers may not be there, but that doesn't diminish Bush's contribution and what his drafting meant for the Saints and Saints fans...
