Leaving New Orleans was just the dumbest thing Ingram's done in forever.
Ingram left us, we didn't leave him. Money was nearly identical. |

Payton tried to talk to Ingram personally, before he decided to leave, as is Payton's custom, and Ingram wasn't returning his calls or texts or messages. That tells you something was going on. Ingram followed his agent and that's that. He wasn't going to stay.

Ingram never really got going last year, the writing was on the wall that he was going to be less involved.

Everything I heard was that it was Ingram's decision to leave. Payton was upset that he wasn't given enough of a chance to talk to Ingram.

I understand that Ingram's agent threw out a ridiculously high figure and we didn't try to renegotiate. We signed Murray and Ingram fired his agent immediately afterwards. You could tell by his body language that he was deflated about going to the Ravens and wanted to be part of this team moving forward. Ingram didn't quit on us. His agent screwed him. I wish him only the very best.
