I agree that Riveron needs to be fired. I also think he has to be smart enough to know what's good for business for the NFL. And messing up a small but loyal and profitable small market team isn't it.

It absolutely did. It seemed like all momentum was lost after that play. And...that was the stupidest penalty I have seen all year. Cam is fortunate he didn't get ejected.

The league really needs to figure out PI calls. I realize it is a subjective call, but there is just no consistency on what is called and not called. The reversal of OPI against the Saints was awful. Peyton was making a statement on his first PI challenge, the referees were making a statement with that reversal call.

It's clear to me that Riveron and his people have no intention of allowing the new "rule" to stick. They almost NEVER overturn anything. It was never stated, originally, that ONLY the most egregious of missed calls would be overturned. But that's the way they've attempted to interpret it.

And yet, they overturned a call, going AGAINST the Saints. I'm not one to get conspiratorial, but to me that was the officials taking a shot at the Saints because, probably in their minds, the Saints are the reason this "rule" exists.

What I don't understand is why is THIS so upsetting or "embarrassing" to officials? Everyone seems to be in agreement that Al Riveron doesn't want to embarrass his crews by subjecting them to having to overturn PI calls, but ALL replays have the same effect, do they not? It just makes no sense why there has been such an utter rejection to getting PI calls right, just as is the purpose for any other review.
neugey, st thomas, Garry42 and 1 others like this.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Cam was embarrassed by what happened he will bring it back together . The little twerp QBs dramatic help pull the flag from the a hole that was standing next to him. It seemed that crew had it in for us but read on—-The flags galore yesterday was a testament that teams have been complaining about our online . It started early in the season then lulled then came back again . When your best left tackle goes down guess what there eyeing us more.

Re: Is It Clear?

It's incredibly frustrating that this happens in a game the same week that they send out the invoice for playoff tickets, after the Rams debacle last year. I mean come on. It doesn't make me feel good about sending in my money. I want to believe the league is fair, that it's an honest game, but this ****show isn't helping.

Go back and watch 1979's North Dallas Forty. Pete Gent was an NFL player. He knew!!

As long as you make money for The Man. A powerful line: “Every time I say it's a game, you tell me it's a business. Every time I say it's a business, you tell me it's a game.”

To the FAN it is a game.

To the NFL..........You tell me!

Re: Is It Clear?

Was one game this year between cinci and pitt where their was a blantant PI i think it was against cinci, but was never called when challenged. Why is this also significant? Cinic was only 1 of 32 teams that didnt vote in favor of the new pi rule.

Re: Is It Clear?

The Saints are a small market team. We don't have the same apparel sales that a large market team does. We pissed off the league when we beat the beloved Peyton Manning lead Colts and stole their Lombardi with an on sides kick. They are illegal now. Hmmm..... Bounty gate followed and then the flags started flying against us but not our opponent. Payton has called the NFL out on several occasions and showed the country that he was right.....except for that bounty gate made up mess. The clown shirts worn by Saints players and coaches probably didn't help matters though.

In essence it's us against the league and the team that we are playing every single game. The refs hate us for calling them out and Godhell hates us for showing that bounty gate was baseless accusations. Player punishment was thrown out but the NFL went after our front office and coaches that didn't have a union to fight for them. I can't recall anything that was egregious enough to attack ANY front office. Godhell is just vindictive!

I will say this. Maybe just maybe the league is only trying to keep games close to keep the viewers excited(which is just wrong on all levels)....but I doubt that it factors into the perplexing penalties that the Saints get.
