Re: 2020 NFL Draft: Saints Prospects
We’ll probably end up drafting a safety in the first round. That’s one position we really like to address in the draft (5 picks in the last 4 drafts). With a potential Vonn Bell departure and Marcus Williams entering the last year of his rookie deal, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we draft McKinney or Delpit.

Vonn was arguably the most consistent player on defense not named Demario. Saints need to find a way to retain him, especially considering the safety position makes between 6 to 7.8M these days. Look no further than the 2014 season on defense when you "try" to replace multiple players on the secondary at once. Communication on the back end will suffer. Losing a player like Vonn (above average tackler) will have the consequences of losing a player we had in Malcolm Jenkins. As for Delpit ... good coverage skills however slightly over rated, a poor tackler and is dinged up a lot. The only name I'd like to hear called from LSU in the 1st is J Jefferson. |

Have to expect the unexpected. The Saints have never drafted guys we expected. I’m in favor of keeping Vonn Bell... I was thinking more of planning to replace Marcus Williams. If immediate needs are met in free agency we can look to the future in the draft.

Trevon Diggs (younger brother of Vikes WR Stephon) - CB Alabama
Darkhorse pick @ 24. Has length, turns his head around to play the ball and "fits" cover 3 scheme that Dennis runs. |

This is one to really keep an eye on for our 3rd round pick. He has the versatility Payton loves on the O-Line starting 22 games at LG, 21 at RT and 2 at LT in his college career. |

He's only 6' 3" and lacks the length on the side to stump inside pass rushers... |

Rashard Lawrence - DT LSU
Has good hand placement and leverage. The bad : Technique needs work & time to develop. Possible late round flyer. |
