Brees hasn’t had time like he used to to throw it. Compound that by clogging up all the throwing lanes and congesting everything up within 9 yards + Brees not as nimble = the recipe everybody has used to make Sean look terrible.
He can’t adjust to it and won’t grind it out on the ground. It’s just a vulnerability we’ve had IMO |

Re: Drew Is Coming Back For The 2020 Season
For those of you complaining about Brees coming back, ya'll need to knock it off. Yes, Teddy had a good 5 games last year. But that doesn't mean he would have ended how he started. Teams would have eventually caught on. Drew knows how to adjust. It was not all his fault that the team lost to the Vikings. If the Saints can go into FA or the draft, get a decent 2nd receiver, some depth on the O line, fix up the secondary a little, they'll be fine. The main problem again, was they had a HUGE drop off after Mike Thomas on the depth chart. Smith is good, but not there yet, Ginn was way past his prime and the other guys didn't have much experience. You Drew critics who are beating up on him now, are going to hate it when he's gone and wish he'd come back.

When Brees leaves we very well could see a several year hiatus from the playoffs so I would enjoy it while it lasts. Even if we got the best Qb in the draft it is highly doubtful we win the SB or even the playoffs. We are going to have to rebuild eventually, that’s a given. I don’t get the whole “we might as well get it over with now” mentality I see from some fans. You strike when the iron is hot and believe it or not the iron is still hot. Brees had a career best passer AND TD rating last year. He isn’t the problem. You show me a better Qb for this year that’s actually attainable and I’m all in, but that Qb isn’t in the NFL right now. We are a guard and a WR away from the SB. I will put $100 on us going if we address those needs. Everything else can be depth for all I care. |

Re: Drew Is Coming Back For The 2020 Season
Give Drew another WR and excellent to elite blocking from the guards and we're a player again.
I am excited to give Taysom a shot, so there's a tiny part of me that is disappointed, but with Drew at QB, and given another WR and some blocking and I'm excited for another year of Saints football. A much bigger concern is Roger dictating the outcome, but that's another thread... |

And if you think that kind of thinking works out, I'd remind you how many games that defensive end has missed including the crucial playoffs... Draft well, Sign Free Agents Well, allow the team to constantly improve - those are the teams in the Free Agency area that consistently compete for the playoffs... Saints 2017 Draft should have taught everyone that... |

Re: Drew Is Coming Back For The 2020 Season
One thing that is definitely lost on many people is that Brees was still one of the best performing quarterbacks in the league...
It came down to that horrible interception in the playoffs vs the Vikings where he was trying to keep the momentum we'd had with Taysom Hill trucking the Vikings... Not using Latavius Murray more, pulling Taysom out when he was in BeastMode, Drew didn't make those calls... |
