Epenesa reminds me of Cam Jordan is measurables, playing style, et cetera...

Last thing on the DE situation ...

Davenport has yet to prove (2 seasons and counting) he can stay healthy. Love his ability to set the edge (when healthy), speed and talent to get in the backfield but he was watching his team in street clothes when we needed him the most - see Vikings wild card game.

Cam J needs help coming off the edge.

Signing a mid/lower tier DE (think Okafor) in Free Agency would help our depth & rotation.

To me, there are two general types of defensive linemen, big and strong who controlling the line of scrimmage versus quick and fast, disrupters who penetrate and attack the ball carriers before the play can set up...

The former group of big, strong tend to have longer careers than the latter speed guys mainly due to age plus wear & tear; my concern with Quinn is that he'll be 30 this season...

Epenesa is very much like the big and strong type of lineman that Cam Jordan is and that's why I'm seeing in rankings and mocks there's a chance he could fall to us which presents an intriguing situation...

Under 30yo Defensive Ends:

Dante Fowler and Bud Dupree have been disappointing until 2019 when each had 11.5 sacks last year; so did they figure things out or contract year performers? Both likely are unaffordable, too big a risk...

Carl Nassib has had at least 6.0 sacks in his two seasons with Tampa Bay and is comparable in build to Davenport, and we currently have this performer in Hendrickson...

Emmanuel Ogbah had 5.0 sacks in ten games for the Chiefs, but has been unable to be available, so is signing a guy who likely won't be around in the playoffs really productive?

Then there's the curious case of 49ers FA Ronald Blair who's had some success in limited reps on a talented 49ers defensive line. Is the success due to surrounding talent (Bama effect) or is there value?

I think we are good on the D line (interior) but outside of Cam J & Davenport, we need to add another rotational DE who hates QB's :p.

DD and Robertson are the only guys we can count on (health) at LB on Sundays.

If Patrick Queen (LSU - LB) slides down the draft board, would you?

Just mentioned this in FA thread re: Re-Working Kiko's Contract, we had three (3) LBers on the field for less than a 1/3 of our defensive snaps; now we do rotate them to keep 'em fresh, but the game has changed...

Love Queen and I like Murray, but the premium positions in this league right now is QBs, CBs, WRX, DEs, and I believe you're right that we need that third DE or CB2 a helluva lot more than a LBer...

I'd rather not risk a Day 1 or early Day 2 pick on a LBer (Simmons would be the exception), but have plenty of late Day 2 and Day 3 picks to try to find those quick former SS converted to LBer types...
