I was once on the board of the SBDA (Shreveport/Bossier Dart Association) and president of BAD (Bossier Association of Darts). The scorekeeper stands right beside the board. At my house if you can't hit the board you watch. LOL! A nice set of darts run from $50-$200 and I wouldn't want any of mine hitting brick.
