Anecdotally speaking, when you consider the most successful quarterbacks in the playoffs, many of them scored very high on the Wonderlic Exam... |

Re: IF Tua falls....
Jake Fromm - 35 (outstanding) .. too bad that won't raise his draft stock on Thursday. Jameis Winston scored an impressive 27 yet he has trouble processing (30 int's) information at the elite level.
IIRC Lamar Jackson scored a 13 (same as Tua) and was the league MVP last year at QB. The wonderlic isn't exactly a predictor of success. |

Re: IF Tua falls....
I could see your point if the score was average, but Tua was only able to manage a 13! That sucks. Especially for a position that requires quick analytical skills in an offense as complex as Payton's ... and most others in the league these days.

Re: IF Tua falls....
Interesting side note ... tied for the third highest Wonderlic score in NFL history is former Saints TE, Ben Watson, with a 48 out of the maximum 50. The rest of the top five were ...
T-3 - 48 - Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB T-3 - 48 - Kevin Curtis - WR 2 - 49 - Mike Mamula - DE 1 - 50 - Pat McInally - Punter (only perfect score ever) |

As for Lamar, he had over 3k yards passing last season. I'd say he's more than just a wildcat QB. |

Re: IF Tua falls....
If he falls then we should be looking for trade partners. Payton has said that this is not the year to gamble on injuries. If no trades are available then we should go BPA at a position of need.

Jackson had a huge statistical game yards wise, but he had a ****ty 63.2 passer rating, threw two picks and was sacked four times. He was in over his head. All he did was throw the ball up 51 times and run (because he is a RB) for 143 yards. Oh, and he also fumbled. He couldn't produce a TD until the 4th quarter when the Titans were in the prevent defense. It was 28-6 at the time and he missed the two point attempt on that play. He will never sniff another MVP. |
