this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The wonderlic makes me laugh. Always brought up with QB that fail, the players with great scores that are useless it's never mentioned...

Re: IF Tua falls....
I am just not a fan.
I think we'd be better off snagging a player we can play now. We are in the mist of a SB win nor or else. The future be damned. So I would trade up get a pass rusher or LB who can come in and play. Perhaps even another WR or even an OL. |

Re: IF Tua falls....
Analytical and quick processing are not as important for many positions as others. QB, center and defensive play caller (green dot). are positions where it is critical. Some will argue that TE falls into that category, as well, given they actually play so many multiple positions depending upon the play call ... TE, RB, FB, o-line, slot, wideout, etc.

Jackson was amazing week-to-week, but when faced with elite teams, he was frustrated and shut down... The guy's that can process and adapt quicker, in the playoffs, anecdotally speaking, seem to have higher wonderlic scores... |

Re: IF Tua falls....
WPT-R measures cognitive capacity, not physicality, athleticism, or motivation. It is a piece of a puzzle not a litmus paper. It does not score cognitive proficiency.
The puzzle isn't just the position, a higher wonderlic should correlate to more of an ability to sort **** out on the field if the coach is a dipsh1t. Its not a Go-Nogo test, but it isn't worthless either. It is a tool, one that most people dismiss because they do not understand it. |

Re: IF Tua falls....
The scores should have remained confidential, yet every year they conveniently leak a week or so before draft day.
BTW, an updated wonderlic score for Tua was 19 and Jalen Hurts 21. |

Re: IF Tua falls....
Can't understand how these kids continue to sign with the same idiot agents because of politics and these same agents let these prospects take the Wonderlic without preparation...

Re: IF Tua falls....
JP ~ WPT-R is an IQ test and there isnt much preperation that a person can do. Also, if you could and did teach someone how to score better on an IQ test, the results would be meaningless. They didn't have the IQ to sort it for themselves.
For what it is worth, if I am about to hire someone for $400k+ a year.. I want them to take the WPT-R, IQ, Color Blind test, Rorscach Test, they may even take the Pepsi Challenge. |
