Drew Brees has shown his heart to New Orleans....the city, the communities...the state of Louisiana so many times and in so many ways that if you doubt his sincere efforts to help, you haven’t been paying attention. Without Drew, no Super Bowl, no respect, no amazing years. Michael Thomas, Malcolm Jenkins and the rest of them are so wrong for speaking against Drew. I hope MY QB takes his spoils and goes home and tells them all to have it their way. He does not in any way deserve the crap they have dealt him. I wish he would not have bowed to the front desk pressure and apologized. He had no reason to. That.is.all.

No, Thomas and company are not wrong speaking against Drew. They may be wrong in their assessment of Drew and they may be wrong about the message Drew was trying to spread but they have every right to speak against him.
We also have to remember that things are very heated and people are very angry. Sometimes people say stupid things when they are angry. It may not be tactful or classy but they still have every right to speak their mind.

Exactly the point I was trying to make the other day, one idiot can effectively make a group of people look bad and thats wrong on so many levels.

Thank you for your service, I wish the UK government had as much pride in its soldiers as the majority of America do for theirs.

Drew apologized again. But what I found disturbing is this from the article “https://sports.yahoo.com/drew-brees-...004525114.html

“Teammates indicated that they accepted Brees’s apology, but this issue likely won’t go away, and the national anthem before the Saints’ first game will be watched closely, for what Brees does and what his teammates do.”

This is where it gets messed up. If he doesn’t kneel during the anthem then what? He’s disrespecting his teammates? The media are gonna drive this Into the ground and make something out of it that it’s not. Regardless if he said anything or not, who kneels and who doesn’t was going to be a thing. If you can’t unite for the country how you expect to unite for a cause? Guess we will see how Brees “humbles himself” and what convictions he gives up to do so or not.

I've heard that in at least parts of US, police officers go through a fairly brief induction into the occupation.

In Finland, police officers go through a 3-year bachelor's degree level education to become qualified for the occupation.

Granted, it's much different being a cop in Finland than being one in US, but as I'm close friends with one - I know they do face difficult situations over here as well.

There isn't anyone on this board that I wouldn't have a drink with.

Much to the contrary, some of you would require me to have two drinks :):bng:

All is now cool on the team front as they talked personally and know each other well. This is the media, ONCE AGAIN, trying to stir the pot. Yes, "this issue likely won’t go away" because the damned media will make it an ongoing narrative.

It takes more training in the US to become a hair stylist than a police officer.

Training is very important but I would say our programs lack sufficient periodic screening to determine who is fit for duty.
