Survey: Are you going to watch the Saints this season?
 

This is an easy survey to get input on exactly who is totally committed to NOT watching the Saints, or any other NFL team, play in person or on any platform this season. It was brought to my attention that MANY here have made this commitment.

So ...

If you are totally committed to not watching the Saints, or any other NFL team, play in person or on any platform this 2020 season could you please simply state such in this thread.

Thank you for your cooperation in this attempt to learn more about our fellow Saints fans and their ongoing interest. I will do my best to keep up with the numbers.

I will not be watching. I will be deer hunting instead. I may read an article or check back here and be able to see the results, but I will not be giving the NFL my viewership.

I can't go for that, nooo, no can do.

A survey is a good thought, but it won't be accurate cause for every person who has an account and regularly posts, there's probably double that who just lurk and never do.

You're trying to make this a simple black or white discussion by forcing me to paint myself into a corner. I said that many football fans are disgusted with the NFL and if they haven't already given up on it they are close.

I will not go to a game. That's easy for me since I live in Alaska.
I got rid of cable so I won't watching the games either.

I will continue to visit this site since I have made friends here and it's my version of facebook/twitter. Therefore I will be keeping tabs of how things are going with the team.

As I said before, the Saints were a religion in my past. I lived and breathed everything Saints related.

Simply put, I'm turned off by the league. But to definitively say that I'm done with football is an overstatement. So far.

The way I feel right now I would say no, but I know very well once things get going I will be glued to the TV.

The only thing that will stop me from watching Saints games are Lakers playoff games. Count me in.

I will definately be watching. This season may be different in many ways, but the Saints are still my team and I love NFL football!

I'll watch. I will stream the games illegally as I have done since Bounty Gate. I will not give the NFL a single dime. I give it several hours a week which is what it takes to follow the Saints. The Saints are a part of me. The NFL is not.

I planned on going to 3 games this year, pending covid of course. However, I won’t be going to any or supporting any NFL product with my money.

As for watching, I’ll likely pirate stream the games as I’ll be out of market anyway and will not buy Sunday ticket. Even with that, I am not sure I’ll pay much attention or even care to watch.

I also run 3 Fantasy leagues (friends/work/church) and out of 30 people that normally participate only 8 are interested this year. I am not one of those 8 lol... so I’ll likely cancel all of them or let one of the other guys pick it up.

I have also noticed I only visit this site 2 or 3 times a week, used to be 2-3 times a day.

Frankly, I am tired of everything being politically charged. I don’t think my little amount of money will matter to the NFL, but honestly I am finding other hobbies to sink time into.

Assuming there is a season... I'll watch.

After all it would be hypocritical of me to watch the Bundesliga and Premier League play in empty stadiums and not watch the NFL.

We'll all be watching, mostly.

I think the intensity of fanhood for fans has been tempered a bit with all the shenanigans. It's a shame this question/survey is even asked, if you think about it. It's a testament to current times, an unthinkable thought just not long ago.

Sure. The flag thing doesn’t bother me as much as the dog and pony show narratives, twitter wars, etc. centered around each matchup. I don’t care about people’s stories or media build up before the game. It’s like WWE. I support the idea of BLM but not what it’s become politically so if it turns into a political campaign I won’t watch. Kneeling for the anthem doesn’t bother me but I don’t want to listen to hours of debate from those calling the game.
If we have a season at all it may happen with some players sitting out to prevent being exposed to COVID. Both Jenkins have expressed concern over it.

If the Saints play, I will be watching. If the Tide plays, I will be watching. This will be the case until my time on earth is done. I love the Saints. I am a lifelong Tide fan. I love sports. I love and play golf. I always watch the majors and others depending on the field. I have watched all of it recently. I'm a casual NASCAR fan. I've watched a lot of it since it's been basically the only sports entertainment on. I will watch the NBA if the Jazz or Pelicans are involved. I will watch the Braves. I will watch March Madness. I will flip by Wrestling and see if something catches my eye. I will watch hockey if I have a wager on it. I will give the Olympics a drive by. I have watched World Cup soccer when the US was involved but it's still like pulling teeth. I will not watch horse racing. I LOL at Corn Hole being televised by ESPN and can't help but think of Beavis and Butthead.

If you think for one second that the ill-fated actions and comments from people dead set on obstruction and destruction will prevent me from my one remaining solace... Trying to make me to cut off my nose to spite my face, you are foolish.

I have sat and enjoyed chocolate chip cookies from home while B52s carpet bombed close enough to shake my cot... I have survived direct fire from 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain guns coming from Bradley fighting vehicles...

It isn't that I am racist, its that kneeling and beating on trash cans just doesn't register with me. Showings of force will be ignored until the time comes to respond with appreciable force. I will not let any race of man stand between me and my happiness, if you are trying to do so to another race then you aren't much better than they are are you?

You will gain my compassion and attention much quicker by just telling me you want to talk. I am pretty damn easy to talk to and always willing to help those that need help. :bng:

I'm in a 48 team legacy league (three conferences of 16 teams which each conference have access to all the players - 29 keepers) and only one of the 48 owners needed replaced and that one wasn't boycott related.

The question is only being asked because a couple of members swore to me that the number of people that are going top be boycotting the NFL this year will have a major affect on the league financially. I was informed that MANY members here are planning on boycotting and not watching the NFL this coming season. I'm just wanting to know who might be either over or underestimating the numbers of those planning to boycott.

Current count still stands at only one member of B&G that has been able to honestly say that they will definitely watch no NFL this coming season.

We tend to rationalize an outcome based on what we are exposed to. if 2 million people gathered in each state to protest that's 100 million, in the 2016 Presidential election 129 million people voted... Neither comes close to 1/2 the population of 329 million people in the United States, yet everyone wants to claim an "overwhelming majority"... The reality is that the overwhelming majority of this country are silent and do not want to bother with things outside of their immediate lives, they just don't have the time or excess energy.

I’ll do what I usually do

Go out and enjoy my sunday
Stay aways from sports news
Then watch a condensed game (hiding the score) that evening

If I am home
I will watch the game in full

But not start watching it till after the National Anthem is over.

I will watch my Saints play and I will watch the teams we play against to get a feel for their game. Besides that The NFL has ruined football for me.

However, I still buy Saints NFL gear so that I can represent with pride. Other than that I have no interest in pro football anymore. Screw you Roger Godhell!!! :argue:

I for one, am awfully happy and satisfied, I was able to live the Saints Superbowl victory. One is all i need....seriously doubt there will ever be another one.... even if there is another one. It will never match up to the Saints victory over the Colts!!!

I clearly stated that due to the virus and fans like me discontinuing financial support to whiny players and the league through NFL product purchases the league will see a decline in revenue.

I also said that there are many fans like me that are close to giving up on the NFL. Not "boycotting"... yet. But don't let that detail keep you from your over exaggerated rant.

The point I am making is that you have this disconnected belief that there is actually a significant number of people that feel like you that could actually create a decline in revenue. 99% of NFL fans don't give a **** and just want to watch football. You don't seem to understand that fact. You, my friend are the one that is not only exaggerating, but is existing in a totally different realm of unreality.

Interesting, though. Brainy I can understand, but "smurf"? Anything but a smurf. Just a tad under 6' and at 205 with tattoos I wouldn't imagine a smurf. Then again, you have been having an issue with reality.

A rational discussion requires the ability and the willingness to at least hear out the viewpoints of the other. Blocking tells me that you do not have that ability and are most likely adverse to hearing the truth. Sticking your fingers in you ears is the perfect recourse.

I am sure as the season approaches more people will be interested, and to be honest only 1 of the leagues is serious ($500 buy in).

Aside from my general lack of interest and interest in other things, I don’t think the product is going to be very good this year. There were already issues with refs that drove me crazy, add on to that less practice, drop out from infected players, no fans in the stands and likely constant political undertones... yeah it’s going to be a low quality product in my opinion. That said, there is nothing else going on for most people so I am sure TV revs will be up.
