Since then, we’ve had three seasons end in massive choke jobs in the playoffs. Brees has to be tired of it.

Or he has to be motivated by it. Have you read his book? I seriously doubt he thinks they choked.

Brees was off today. Hope it’s just rust. He’s surrounded by enough talent for us to win even if he’s just average.

In my opinion, Brees did enough to be a game manager today but I'm fairly certain that he'll get better as the season progresses. This week was every team's first crack at live action and Brees did throw some nice passes today.

No need to use up the arm this early in the season especially when the Saints were eating up clock in the second half.

I wouldn't put too much faith into what any player says at the end of a season; by the Pro Bowl they are physically banged up by the game, mentally beat up by the fans, and just tired.

There is absolutely nothing about Drew's personality that says "I know when to stop"....:bng:

Yesterday was every indication that it needs to be his last year.

We'll see. I think that he'll be fine as the season progresses. Players, coaches, and media bros all said that the atmosphere at the games was like a scrimmage so when Brees gets used to the empty stadiums I'm guessing he'll be calibrated to excellence again.

I agree. People say it’s because of a light camp and no preseason but Farve didn’t participate in camp or preseason for the last 5 years of his career and did just fine. A pro like Brees doesn’t need it so I doubt you would have seen a whole lot of difference if they did have a normal preseason.

Hell I remember when an 8-8 season wasn't a realistic goal!

He used to only have those kind of games on the road once or twice a year. Then it started happening at pretty much every road game. Then he started having those game at home in the dome. Now he’s hit or miss. People are truly speaking from an emotional place. Skills diminish with age, and that’s okay. His run is at its end.

Even if Brees' skills are diminishing, they are still better than Winston's.
Just because you can throw a football 60 yards doesn't mean you're better.
See Jamarcus Russel as the perfect example. 30 and 30 are good stats if you're a baseball player, not a starting QB.
Winston is here because he was cheap and has starter experience in case the worse happens again. He isn't the future.
