Malcolm Jenkins

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; MJ has looked good the last several weeks. Much better and more impactful than Von Bell. Slower? Of course...but he’s smarter. I’ve seen several plays from him that don’t show up on the stat sheet. Put him near the line ...

Put him near the line of scrimmage and watch him drop back into zone. Those drags that used to kill us are getting shut down by him allowing the pass rush to get there.

Re: Malcolm Jenkins

I agree Rez. MJ has helped stabilize things with his experience and I think they are getting enough pash rush from the front that there aren’t a lot of open guys for other QBs to throw to. What may be the downfall is the long, Hail Mary type passes like Rogers and Wilson love to throw. Big throws have killed over the last few seasons.

I agree, but it seems like he won’t be the culprit. They’re using him closer to the line of scrimmage a lot more often. That’s why my first post mentioned that they figured out how to use him. In cases where he does drop back into a Cover 2 shell he hasn’t been the problem to begin with. That’s Williams that likes to get beat on those plays! Lol. Those first two weeks MJ looked horrible, but he’s been consistently good since then.

59 tackles
9 passes defended
2 sacks
2 INT’s

And he doesn’t leave the field.

All true. Especially about him not leaving the field. That goes all the way back to Philly I believe. He has only not been on the field like..5 snaps a year? Crazy. Plus, like you say, his playing closer in has reinforced the run D. It’s understated by the League, but haven’t the set a record for no 100 yard rushers ? That does soooo much to make other teams one dimensional.

I believe so. This is why I kept saying I wasn’t worried about the defense. If we score like we’re supposed to we‘ll be just fine.

One of the main things missing online is subtlety and nuisance I believe (I could be wrong of course). It’s hard to interpret someone’s true intent or emotions. I’ve been here only a short while, but we all (ideally) are gathered here on this website as Saints fans. I can’t see how anyone that would know anything about the team and pull for the Saints and take time to post here be a racist...nor would I see anyone posting here and pulling for the Saints call another Saints fan a racist.

unfortunately when a term meant for the most egregious of persons is now cast around so flippantly, it loses it's original mark.

"racist" lost the impact and now basically equates to "i don't like your beliefs"

It may be a good idea for us all to make a pact to keep these topics in Poli-Sci from now on.

Whilst the Internet has done so many good things for the world, one of the worst is that people can basically bully and accuse others of something, with little to no consequences.

As you said, people throw terms around so flippantly now they are the generic thing used when people try to win arguments.

Not sure if any of you are gamers, but I waited 7 years for a sequel to the Last of Us game, which I frankly didn't enjoy. However, write that on the Internet and you get accused of not liking the game because "it includes transgenders."

Internet can be a dangerous and idiotic place.

20 years ago those people ran in groups of 3-4 and weren’t given much thought. Today they’re organizing violent nationwide protests.
