I’m still thinking/hoping for a trade or pickup after roster cuts start happening.

No need to sign one unless, or until, you need one. It's appearing that Kamara will not be facing suspension at the beginning of the season, if at all this season. Signing a veteran now would guarantee their salary for the entire season, if they were on the roster beginning the season. Signing one after week one allows the Saints to only commit week to week cap hits.

Kwon OTOH could be nice depth.
