2022 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I like our roster this year too. O line is potentially top 5. Interior D line is sneaky good (more depth than you think) and boy do we have a lot to throw at a QB from the edges! Pass ...

Pass catchers - Callaway is underrated. Deonte another matchup nightmare. Then you factor in Kamara, Hill and Trautman... I'm a believer.

Secondary seems patchwork. Not as confident here. Camp will show a lot but it feels like there's still another domino to fall.

Special Teams shouldn't be a concern.

QB.... prove them all wrong Jameis. I will laugh with you!

We literally have the same DBs as last year with the exception of Paulson Adebo for Janoris Jenkins; and now have an abundance of NBs with Poole...

Callaway hasn't shown he can stay healthy; Tre'Quan is in the last year of his rookie contract, and still looks like a rookie; Deonte is special, but limited by his height...

Until we see what Baker is all about, have no confidence in this WR group as it is; Trautman was an unnecessarily expensive, but solid pick and should do well...

IF there's any truth to bringing back Brandin Cooks, who's on an affordable contract and knows he's an elite WRz, not a WRx (as Harris isn't), Sean needs to get it done...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Yes, same DBs but no one started at CB 2 with any real effectiveness. See Payton's comment yesterday - "MUST"

Keep in mind our O line can be elite. If that hold true, someone will be open every play.

Pass on Cooks. Big on Trautman (expensive....whut?)

If I remember correctly we spent a third round picks up but we did move up and I'm not sure what the compensation was for moving up.

They traded the seventh rounder (244th overall) from Cleveland, along with their own fourth- (130), fifth- (169) and sixth-round (203) picks for pick number 105 in the third round. Seems like a good deal to me to get what is now a starting TE. There's no guarantee that any of the traded picks would have fielded a starting player.

Not saying your opinion is wrong but on the flip side with all of those picks given up for a single player we could have hit on possibly all of them, their are plenty of players drafted around those times not including undrafted that have had solid to great careers in the league. I think alot of that is laziness on the scouting department and coaches. From Pierre Thomas to Tom Brady.

Around 35% of drafted players ever start half the games in their careers. Very few of those come from the last few rounds. They do happen, but are very rare.

It doesn't come from laziness, at least not from those picking the talent. Those picked late are picked late for a reason.

I'll buy the beer if I'm wrong (I'm partial to Yuengling Lager), but I believe you're gonna be really happy with Adebo...

Now Jenkins missed three games last year, and in no way am I saying PJ or PRob is just as good as Jackrabbit, they peformed well and the secondary wasn't the liability it was in previous seasons...

I am as optimistic about this secondary as AG getting a tatoo of Sean Payton on his backside...

I'm all for optimism - you should know, you've hip-checked my outlook back to reality a time or two - but we need a day 1 starter at #2 (not accounting for Lattimore susp.) and we're relying on a rookie who didn't play last year and a 33 year old mid-tier talent??

If we were willing to jump into the Top 10 for Surtain, we're still searching today.

I am more than willing for another Saints addition to my tattoos. I'd rather them be more visible, however.
