You can't call Jenkins a bust. I do think he is an awful safety, however he should have never been drafted to play FS. He was a CB in college and unfortunately we wasted him on a position he shouldn't have played.

He wasn't below average... He was just a backup

Don't take my word for it though you can look at this tidbit if you'd like.

" S: Of 88 graded safeties, Roman Harper came in 87th and Malcom Jenkins came in 88th. No joke. Isa Abdul-Quddus came in a middle of the pack 40th. In coverage, Harper was dead last and Jenkins was 4th worst. Against the run, IAQ was 5th worst and Jenkins was 6th worst. Roman Harper gave up 46 receptions, no other safety gave up for than 41. Basically the play on the back end was possibly the worst ever"

PFF is widely accepted and a trusted source. They should both be gone next season regardless of dead money involved.

Vaccaro> Harper
Bush> Jenkins

It's not even close.
Kind of hard to blame anybody on our defense for 2012. There is not a single soul on this earth that could have succeeded in our defense that year.

Anyone who uses 2012 stats to evaluate a 2013 Saint is extremely shortsighted and shows a total lack of football knowledge.

Lofton was also one of the worst MLB's in the NFL and Jabari Greer was one of the worst CB's in the entire NFL according to 2012 PFF stats.

JP,
This Bucannon kid is projected to be a 2nd round selection. Who else do you have on your short list of ball hawking safeties for next years draft?

Like a fly in my trap...

I knew you would say that so here are the tidbits from 2011; a year when our D was average and GW was the DC. Enough excuses!

"S: I had a real bad feeling about this before I even looked it up. Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins were two of the worst graded starters on my player grades. Sure enough, Harper graded 82nd out of 86 graded players. Just horrible. Jenkins graded 42nd overall, or totally middle of the road, with a negative grade. There's 64 starting safeties in the NFL, so for one to grade as 42nd and another 82nd is horrifying. Yuck. Our defense sucked even harder than I thought. I hate you Gregg Williams."

Malcolm Jenkins will be resigned to a 3 year deal. He will be our starting FS/SS next season.
