+1...again. It is the oldest profession in the world, for a reason. I'm just not going to judge, which doesn't mean I don't have an opinion, but rather it means I recognize that it is just that - an opinion.

When the facts are clear I think it is likely the only thing LT will be guilty of is paying for sex, and if that proves to be true than he just did it in the wrong state. Legislating morality is a horribly slippery slope ya'll...

Actually, Law and morality come from the same place, as our laws are based upon certain moral norms, regardless what the college pony-tail professors try to tell you. Our law is also based on precedence, and so using traditional moral standards would actually be a return from where we came, not a slide into any new pits. To legislate a lack of morality would also be setting a moral standard, so you cant get away from somebody's standards becoming the standard for all, just as you cannot truly avoid theocracy of some form, even if it is secularism.

aaagh. enough of that kind of talk-- I'm making myself sick. Philosophy, is the talk on a cereal box. (says Edie B.) -not to mention a waste of time.

Anyway, while I support religious values, and especially people who live a bit cleaner than you and me, I dont care who's naked with whom, unless one of them is a kid... and I think if your arse is all you got for sale, maybe the government should look the other way, kind of like they have during some periods in New Orleans. Some lawbreaking, I couldnt care less about. I break the law every time I drive.

But I dont think we're in any danger of becoming like Iran. We're free for a long time to drink beer, wear jeans, rock and roll, and get nekkid. You may do all of these tonight.

True Mike - our laws are in part based on a moral 'standard', but that's not legislation necessarily. Sin taxes on smoking, drinking, etc, that's what I mean by legislating morality.

When you speak of 'traditional moral standards', who's tradition do we settle on? What's right for those in the Northeast doesn't fly (necessarily) for those in the southwest. The country is bigger, more diverse than it has ever been, and a common moral ground is, in many ways, next to impossible.

I'm not arguing for prostitution...far from it, but I think we have to recognize the difficulty involved in getting this country to settle on a moral standard.

C'mon Man...

I doubt this witness is anything more than someone LT's lawyer is using to create a "reasonable doubt".

I dunno. I agree with what I believe is the spirit of this (no pun intended), but I don't want the Church up in my bid'ness any more than I want the state there.
