The reality is we don't have significant improvement until we take a step back and move up in the draft by virtue of record, without giving up add'l draft capital... Even the teams that have historically drafted well and are perennial contenders have at least one down year among their 6-7-8 year runs... We've not allowed that inevitable process due to leaning in too much on free agency heavy contracts, and poor draft management of all-too-frequent moving up in the draft... |

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints
Both. That's a lot of pressure to attach to one player. Then, by trading up, you've not allowed to go back into a fertile, talented draft because you've limited your choices...
Now you have a talented player, but you're weak somewhere else, opponents will just attack the weaker position... And even worse, what if the player heavily invested doesn't pan out, now you've only addressed one position and even it's not having an impact... Not having talent spread across the field has cost us; having plenty of choices is what has sprung us forward - see recent history of 2017 draft where we had more choices... |

Watching some LB’s and man... this Jamin Davis kid looks so good. He’s the quintessential weak side LB.

Free agency comp pick update for the 2022 draft... we’re currently slated to get a 4th for Trey Hendrickson and a 7th for Justin Hardee. That’s in addition to getting a 3 next year for Fontenot.

Re: 2021 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints
Saints continue to go hard on DT’s. We don’t have a CB2 so I don’t know why we’re so all in on DT but whatever. |
