Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
It's been a long time since I've posted, but I've been lurking this whole time.
Would you guys approve of, and do you think Baltimore would take, 2024, 2026, 2028 1s, and 1st round pick swaps and 2s in 2025 and 2027 for Lamar? I know any big move like this is unlikely. |

And, no, I wouldn't consider anything like that for Jackson. While he is dynamic, his style of play scares me. I can see him missing tons of time moving forward due to injury. |

It wouldn't work for the long term viability of an NFL franchise IMO not being able to supplement those players with cheaper high end talent(those draft picks). That Russell Wilson trade was really something else and quite rare to see happen.
Can it work for a season or two? Sure. You would have to be on top of your game at every aspect of your coaching, player development, and scouting. That's not us right now. |

Now we're scratching for a quality qb., holes in the O and D with no quality depth. I would trade a few players to help shore up some positions and acquire draft picks for this draft and next. Kamara for two 2nd rounders, Davis for a 2nd,rounder Jordan i(getting long in the tooth) 2nd rounder, Peat for a 7th, I let Thomas walk. There are teams that I feel would give us these picks for these players and allow us to acquire draft capital to help strenghten up the team.

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
This all sounds good on paper but that’s assuming that all the draft picks work out. What happens if they don’t? Then you’ve let go of some known talent to replace with some average players. Our drafting has been good lately, but we still don’t hit on all of them. That’s my main concern. That’s why I want to eventually get out of our cap situation to be able to sign some quality FAs. They don’t always work out either, but I like my odds better with that than relying solely on the draft.
Edit- this is to Halloween’s post. |
