this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Carr is ok but its better to find an ok qb with a second day draft pick because they are way cheaper and younger. We are not one player away. We need the cash to pay for dead cap costs ...

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
Consistency is totally dependent upon health. There isn't a team in the league that can be consistent on the offensive line when they are missing 60% to 80% of their starters. A successful offensive line is a cohesive unit. It is impossible to develop that cohesiveness with the guy to either side shuffling in and out every other game.

That doesn't mean I feel we should make a move for Carr, but an established NFL QB is a known quantity, at least, and worth a little more coin. |

Speaking of Penning ...
Did anyone see his play vs the Browns? This guy was moving grown men off the line a few times. I think he becomes the truth at tackle. |

If Payton was here I'd be all for Derek Carr. I feel that way about most of these QB's. I believe in Payton's ability to get the best out of them. Dennis Allen and Pete Carmichael? Nah.

Just look at Tampa Bay. They have suffered just as many injuries to their offensive line than the Saints. Their offense is struggling and would easily have three or four more losses without Brady under center. Injuries are the great equalizer. |
