May 2 - Bryce Thompson signed a 3 year, $2,425,000 contract with the New Orleans Saints, including an average annual salary of $808,333. In 2021, Thompson will earn a base salary of $660,000, while carrying a cap hit of $660,000.

Rugs, essentially have same CBs as last season with a rookie Paulson Adebo replacing Janoris; drafting Trevon Moehrig in R1 to replace Malcolm would've been great...

In truth, don't mind rotating a rookie into a position group every other year so we can have both youth, fiscally-smart allotment in that position group...

Really believe Adebo will play at a better level than drafted (he was a first round grade at one point in his collegiate career)...

Now, Taking Payton Turner tells me a few things:

One, now Asst HC Ryan Nielsen definitely has Sean's ear...

Two, Losing Hendrickson concerned Sean more than some in our community here...

Three, Turner will be Cam Jordan's relief this year, eventual replacement, but Davenport is on double-secret probation...

Four, while he was, admitted by Payton, a second-round grade, they really like the kid and his attitude, along with his physical talent...

Five, the only real area of concern on this team, albeit the most important position, is quarterback; Jameis is an ass-hat, a clown, and he'll buckle...

The only hope for a quick solution at QB is that Taysom steps up as the Steve Young that Sean visualized OR the team tanks and we get a Top 10 pick...

But across this roster, the only other questions are limited to the offensive line not named Ramczyk or McCoy, though there's some promising reserves there...

This accurate, concise read PFN/Tony Pauline | Bryce Thompson, CB, Tennessee – NFL Draft Player Profile nails it - we're basically getting a young P. J. Williams...

A versatile, NFL talent defensive back, only instead of a third round pick, we got him as an undrafted free agent - he stays on course, healthy, it's a win...

While some NFL personnel value Zierlein's take than I, some good info here as well - NFL.com/Lance Zierlein | Bryce Thompson Draft and Combine Prospect Profile

Yup. $660K is rookie minimum for 2021. $825K is minimum 2nd year salary in 2022. $940K is 3rd year minimum in 2023. Those are Thompson's terms, so he was signed to the standard three year minimum deal.

Jameis is an ass hat but I'm willing to give him a few games to reevaluate him. I don't have much hope for his development but I'm one of those people that likes to be proven wrong from time to time. It's how we grow.

I'm still worried about our depth but that's what happens when you go for it all several years in a row and fall short, although you did say that we had some promising reserves and I'll just have to take your word for it. I certainly hope that you are right because those reserves may become the eventual starters.

Is the Saints QB group average or subpar?

To my untrained eye we would be lucky to be subpar. I don't believe that Taysom is the next Steve Young and that he can achieve his potential best as the NFL's most well known "Multi Tool". Jameis has the potential but right now that's all he has. We have a young journeyman on the practice squad named Siemien and a 4th round rookie draft pick that is a relatively unknown outside of Payton and his QB coaches who vouched for him along with the scouts.

I'd put them at average but without even knowing which guy will start it's difficult to speculate. I don't believe that Taysom Hill is a starting QB in the NFL and I can only hope that Winston can be good with a great offensive mind like Payton training him.
