That 8-28 record in his last try as a head coach soured the market a bit. Some great coordinators just can't cut it as head coach material. He may be seen as one of them. That's fine with me.

Belechick failed at his first HC job as well, and that turned out OK. With a strong GM I think DA could do well, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone takes a chance after last night. I'm amazed he's been under the radar this long.
Rueben Mayes and K Major like this.

Working under Payton for so many years has to be a plus.
If Winston could have stayed healthy we would have had a legitimate shot with the defense we have right now. Taysom would be in his regular role and our offense would be able to do just enough to keep us ahead in close games.
Damn shame we didn’t have this defense when Brees was in his prime.

Also, what is it with Brady getting pissed off at defenders just for doing their job? He acts like a sack or interception is breaking the rules. Dudes truly an elitist who believes he doesn’t have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
I’ve never liked him but last night showed me just how much of a POS he really is.

Honestly, people will say he's a competitor but he's such a sore loser it's unreal.

After the pick he ran over and shouted at one of our coaches too, guy is a grade A tool.

Yes, but consider that Belichick won 36 games out of 80 over five years with the lowly Cleveland Browns plus a rare playoff victory in his first try.

Allen led the Oakland Raiders to back to back 4-12 seasons in his first two years only to be fired after starting 0-4 in his third season.

Allen's name comes up every year but he never gets the call. Once again, not every great coordinator translates to a good head coach. I believe that's how he is view by those in the know.

Yeah, I get that, but I'm not sure it will hold true after this.

I think this is the perfect example of the Peter Principle.

"The Peter Principle observes that employees rise up through a firm's hierarchy through promotion until they reach a level of respective incompetence."

Dennis Allen makes a great DC, but his strengths are not used at the next level.

That said, I can see a team offering him a ton of money trying to steal him from the Saints as a DC.
