Re: 2022 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
It would hurt for a year or two but i would be doing it.
And as much as i wouldn't want to do it really i would listen to offers on the older players aswell. They can clear over 30ml of the 70ml cap in Michael Thomas and Cam Jordan alone. Peat/Robey both trade assets if they went into a full rebuild and you would be around 22ml over with 4 moves. Obviously they would all need replaced you would have to be looking at some decent picks. Would get a new regime off to building its own team, especially if Payton wanted back in before the 2023 season and the draft picks that would bring in. |
"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

If we move CantGuardMike, I'd be sure I was signing a competent veteran to replace him as well as securing multiple first, second day draft picks... There are teams so desperate for a G/T I'd give Peat up for a 6th rd pick in a re-sign and trade (min. 1st year cap hit) just to get rid of that albatross... I'd designate Malcolm Jenkins a post-Jun 1st cut, take the $3.95M cap hit, save $7.75M there... Ruiz is another bust I'd try to get at least a 4th rd pick being he's on a rookie contract; problem is moving him would be cost prohibitive without a sign and trade... And no one is gonna want him at this time... Sean Payton has left a helluva mess and hamstrung future roster moves... |

Not a "bust", however, he's starting to look like one . Still a head scratcher pick, especially in the 1st round. |

My standard is first round picks should be immediate starters, with maybe the exception of QB being given some extra acclimation time... With McCoy in place doing well, it just made no sense - the move to bring in Ruiz like that had Sean's fingerprints all over it... |

And I'm with on 1st rounders ... they need to be Day 1 starters. Day 1. With CSP now "retired", I'll be extremely curious to see what position we target on Day 1 of the 2022 draft. |

Really feel the Ruiz Experiment, moving McCoy to RG was another of Sean's Double-Double Reverse calls; Sean's Personnel Skills have been less than average... The GM position really needs to be strengthened with Veto power of the HC given back to the GM; the Mickey Loomis Yes Man schtick has needed to go... |
