Naw, it's gonna take time just like all of the other rookies. As most expected, his pass blocking & footwork needs fine tuning. What I like most about Trevor is that he's coachable, has a mean streak and a ridiculous ceiling. He could end up as your starting bookend for the next 8-10 years. |

He is quite typical of the college player that has gotten by a lot on size and strength, he will have a period of time while getting used to the NFL. |

I didn't watch the game but listening to Deuce Windham's perspective this morning he said that Penning seemed to struggle a lot when Book was dropping back much further than he was supposed to. Of course Lineman can't see where the QB is so the reps taken in camp give them an idea and a feel where the QB is supposed to be on the play. Yes, I feel a little dirty giving someone else's perspective on a game rather than my own but I thought that it was worth considering. |

I've heard the exact same thing previously as a critique of other QB's. It's hard for a lineman to protect a QB if that QB isn't where he is expected to be.

How can this be true and the following also be true? From NFL.com 52) Saints first round pick Trevor Penning didn't start the preseason opener and then had the lowest PFF pass-blocking grade on the team, giving up a sack, a QB hit and three pressures with a penalty in 26 passing downs.
