They lost. Preseason is garbage. But after I saw the Texans get the ball with a couple minutes left I knew the Saints would lay an egg. Ick.

Yes…but very disappointed in the offense once Dalton left and especially with the offensive line play. Also, no pass rush and that is not good.

First preseason game, so I'll stay I won't read too much into it. There is some work to be done and some corrections to be made.

Re: Observations from the Saints preseason loss to the Texans

-Adebo has been good as advertised ALL CAMP & tonight he was 🔥 .
-Penning has work to do (technique wise).
-Dalton is a HUGE upgrade @ #2. Saavy pro.
-Book rushes his throws/played poorly. At best a #3 at this level.
-Hansen could be decent depth if he can remain healthy.
-Payton Turner appears rusty.
-Trequan is the same dude 😞. Can’t make the contested catches.

If not for the turnovers, Saints may have shut out the Texans.
Those joint practices next week vs Packers will be good 👍.

Preseason is all about evaluation.

Did any of the TEs show anything?

Ian Book is a waste of a roster spot. He won't get better. I have no idea why he was drafted. Cut his ass and move on. Just like that other kid we drafted from Colorado or Colorado State? Garrett Grayson.

Trying to find a Tom Brady in these late rounds is like trying to win the lottery.

I lost count of how many times Book got sacked. He ain't making this team.

I am guessing Troutman didn't fumble or drop a key 3rd down pass because it wasn't a big game or moment. If Dennis Allen ain't in the nude photos too I doubt Troutman makes the team. Not his project.

Blaine Gabbert and Matt Barkley played great this week in junk time in preseason against 3rd string. I feel like if we give Ian Book 10 years he just might be able to reach their current level. Probably not, but thats his ceiling, and you have to dream.

Andy Dalton would start on the Falcons. They basically started Andy Dalton for 14 seasons.

Re: Observations from the Saints preseason loss to the Texans

* The first series with Dalton looked good, crisp and effective.

* Ian Book plays like an UDFA QB from West Dakota Culinary Institute.

* Trevor Penning suffers from some serious dead feet in pass pro. Flips his hips too soon when rushed on the outside and struggles with the inside move. Basically everything I saw on film before the draft showed itself on the field. Don't see a day 1 starter right now.

* Payton Turner looked better as a runstopper than a passrusher.

* No passrush with the backups. At all.

* Chase Hansen looked pretty good and might have been our best defender.

* Tony Jones was the only backup RB that even got me a little excited.

W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.
