Just appears like his production has gone down over the last couple of seasons.

But hey, what the hell do I know?
I think he would be an upgrade over Dalton. Winston has the raw ability to be really good but Allen for some reason don't seem to care for him. Browns sold the farm for Watson letting Mayfield go to the Panthers. I'm still scratching my head why the Panthers were so quick to let him go. Given time to learn a system and surrounded by enough talent I do think he could be good enough to make things happen. I'm not saying he's the 2nd coming of Brees but good enough to win some playoff games. The guy is tough, played hurt, did what was required of him playing for the Browns and crapped on. Get his head back in it, u might find out he's not bad. I don't think talent wise there are to many qb.'s in the league as talented as Winston just thought I would throw that in.

I'd rather bring Teddy B back if the DCarr signs elsewhere. I wouldn't sign a middle-of-the-pack QB to 35M but that's just me.

Here is the list of available FA QBs for 2023.

Carr, Wentz, Mariota, Mayfield, Darnold, Garoppolo, DJones, Rudolph, etc.

Full list

If those were the cards available and I was playing poker then I would fold. None of these names are exciting enough for me. I want a leader on the field again.

That's my point. No one is worth bringing in for 35 million per. We can be average with what we have already. Let's draft a QB or two and see what we can do there.

Long term, this is the only solution at QB.

The draft. Ask KC or Philly.

In my mind it's
A. Carr for anything under $35MM/yr + Dalton + draft a Rookie in round 2-3
or
B. Dalton + Draft a Rookie you like as early as you want
or
C. Dalton + Get aggressive for a Rookie in the draft

Speaking of QBs, I see the Falcons released Marcus Mariotta to save 12M.

If Winston isn't your guy, let him geaux too.

The hang up for me with those options is the inclusion of the name Dalton. I don't want him anywhere near the Saints roster again. Do a find and replace with the name Winston and I could be onboard.

You are prolly not wrong... but remember Jameis and the Saints hid an injury, a broken back no less. If he's truly healthy now, he has to be considered. He's cheap, QB wise, and under contract.

If we suck worse, we'll be in better position for another QB in the 2024 draft for what is considered a much richer QB draft. If we get lucky with Hooker or some other QB in the draft this year, than it's that much better for us next year.

If Sean was still coaching, keeping Jameis in 2023 is a no-brainer.

But with Heckle and Jeckle running this team, naw.
