Nothing more ignorant than someone talking smack about an injury that they obviously have zero knowledge of.

This is a Saints forum, shawn. Telling people that they're ignorant for having opinions based on the information that we all have available to us on the internet doesn't mean anything other than you're an :moon:hole and Michael Thomas won't date you.

Fans of MT are talking about turf-toe and ankle braces. Fans of Mahomes are talking about another Lombardi Trophy.

If the information is available to us all how is it that some consistently get the facts wrong? Go figure.

Re: Can't Guard Mike

Just wondering, based upon Thomas' contract how does it benefit the Saints to cut or trade him at this point? Any one of the four options would result in $26 million in dead cap one way or another. The maximum in cap savings for 2023 is only $1.565 million with either post 6/1 option. Isn't a healthy Michael Thomas worth $1.565 million for 2023 since we have to fork over the rest anyway?

Then again, with a true contract rewrite (not a restructure) to more of a prove it deal it could cost the Saints much less on all counts.

PRE-6/1 RELEASE

2023 Dead Cap: $26,174,352
2023 Cap Savings: $-12,615,764

PRE-6/1 TRADE

2023 Dead Cap: $26,174,352
2023 Cap Savings: $-12,615,764

POST-6/1 RELEASE

2023 Dead Cap: $11,993,588
2024 Dead Cap: $14,180,764
2023 Cap Savings: $1,565,000

POST-6/1 TRADE

2023 Dead Cap: $11,993,588

To be fair, MT did do it with Brees at the helm. But that was the last time. It feels like ten years ago

In any discussion of fact you have;

“There known knowns - things we know we know.

There are known unknowns - that is to say there are some things we do not know.

But there unknown unknowns - the ones we don’t know we don’t know.”

My thoughts about the MT discussion. ✌️

You have to be physically able to play to play. The only time he's missed since shooting up with meds to play for Brees. All the rest of the time has been due to having surgeries. Some of you act like he's been on a frickin' vacation.

We know we know that Thomas didn't miss time due to a turf toe injury. Not that it wouldn't have still been bad, but he was sidelined by a dislocation of the toe that required surgery to repair.

He's not costing you or I anything. You act like it's his fault. It is more the fault of the team than anything. The rest is just dumb luck. Payton shouldn't have had him in the game he first got injured. The team shouldn't have forced him to play through the injury by shooting him up.

I believe in him because he is still a fricking stud. He can still dominate. He proved that last season. If you truly wanted what was best for the Saints you would want him out their on the field instead of wasting your time and energy hating on him.

But, you know what they say ...

I've seen no indication of that. What exactly makes you believe that? He tried his very best to play through the first injury. The team shot him up to keep playing until it got so bad he wasn't able to go any further. He then took other doctor's advice to see if rehab alone would work with his injury. When it didn't he agreed to have surgery. There were complications (most likely infection) that required a second surgery. He then worked his ass off to come back and looked great until the accident on field that dislocated the toe requiring yet another surgery after the team's getting the initial diagnoses wrong. From all indications he has been rehabbing to return yet again.

He has missed no game that he was physically able to play and played several that he probably shouldn't have played. It sounds to me like he has a ton of heart.

Yet, I'll agree to disagree.

But, you forget to mention that he refused to return phone calls from the medical staff, coaches, or front office.

I still have a problem with him not returning calls from medical staff, coaches, or front office when he was supposed to be having his original surgery. It left a sour taste in my mouth.

What are the chances that how it was portrayed through social media may not be what actually went down? I'd say close to 100% knowing the accuracy of social media and fans.

You say he didn't return calls "when he was supposed to be having his original surgery". Having surgery is ultimately up to the player, not the team. During the period of time he "allegedly" didn't return calls surgery was not yet the decided option. It was, however, the option that became the viral wishes of lots of fans that wanted him back as soon as possible. No plan for surgery was made until after the non-surgical approach was exhausted. That was when off-season contact with the players was underway.

That's what started his downfall with Payton and the front office. He knew what he was doing, new exactly what time frame he would be looking at. The guy can say whatever but he knew. I hope he gets cut and bring in another WR that actually plays instead of drawing a check sitting in the tub. The guy has talent but more of a headache if u ask me. 3 years with little to no production is enough. Ur not the only one it left a bad taste with Rugs.

Mad at who? The teammate who rolls his leg? The opposing player who caused the injury? The turf manufacturer? God, maybe? No individual player tries to get injured. I can see being disappointed, but mad? I cannot fathom ever being angry toward a player for sustaining an injury. That's the very last thing that they could wish to happen.
